Wow that just shows you how the casting can help get plants growing. 😀🌻🌸🌷👍

It's funny because in every side-by-side I have done with using castings on seeds, it always appears initially that the non-compost is in the lead. I get scared... then magically after a few weeks the compost "team/group" start pulling ahead like speed bandits and leave the non-compost in the dust!

I liked how you included the oregano, with just one small sprout. No sprucing or hyping it up for the camera. Great growth with compost!

ninjaraph hey it is what it is.... no need to “fake” anything. Some may not sprout and that’s ok!

I picked some wild seeds when I was out, nettles, burdock & thistle and some are sprouting in my worm bin!

Nice to see the basil doing well with the castings. I lost all my basils to the frost this winter so I need to restart them all as soon as spring hits down here in Aus. You can bet I'll be adding castings :) Great update Emily

How much vermicompost (min./max.) in general do you recommend adding to planting soil? Thank you.
@TheCrazyWormLady

No more then 20% of your total mix. As little as 5-10% show a pretty amazing difference. Compost is potent, mineral rich and fantastic soil amendment.

Great experiment! Looks like maybe your oregano seeds were not viable? Hearing that worm castings make a big difference is just not the same as seeing results! Thanks!

Michelle H I am glad you enjoy! I completely agree. The results speak for themselves and are way cooler than just being told that worm castings make a difference.
