Because his other arm is still free to grab or punch 😅 your supposed to trap the other arm by putting a knee over it and then this would work ten times better . You could also keep your arm behind his head and grab his wrist with that same arm and do an Americana that way as well . 😏🥸
I really like the Americana. It’s simple but for some reason people don’t expect it they only expect the mount or s mount or straight arm bar or literally anything besides this.
I've gotta try this. All this time when I tried to use the Americana from side control I always failed as I didn't use my body weight to move thr arm down
