Proton pump inhibitors (PPI) produce important side effects particularly when they are used for longer periods such as two to three years and used at high dose such as 40-80 mg.
Curious, the claims are based off observational studies however double blind studies done on pantrazole shows a strong safety profile even in long term use
4th trip to an ER tonight in the last 6 months. PPIs usage is apart of the reason Why. I can describe it as errosive esophagitis near LES and the PPi burns that area after taking it. Then I get rebound abdominal pressure on my vagus nerves and other nerves. I experience alot of adrenaline; heart rate increase dramatically. I honestly fear I'm gonna have a heart attack.
Thanks for your explanation. Would you be kind to add information as your bonus service to share your wise informative video, if you know on how to improve our troubling health concerns? Which food to eat or aerobic exercise is needed, etc advice would be much appreciated.
Hi please note the PPI's also interact with thyroid medication absorption. I was suffering from gastric pain for which I took ppi+sucralfate for 15 days. And I am also hypothyroid take 100 mcg thyronrom. My tsh levels spiked badly after 15 days of taking PPIs.
I suffered for 17 years from most of the symptoms you reviewed so accurately. Unfortunately, after being off PPIs for 6 years now, I still have most of them. You can not reverse the damage.
@@TempmailLost Not a Dr but I am currently trying apple cider vinegar. You can add some cinnamon some ACV some honey a touch of salt (himalayan pink) to some water and drink it twice a day before meals. They say after 30 days it gets rid of the reflux. I was on PPI's for almost 20 years. I do have some problems when I lay down at night. But no longer need PPI's after only a week. I also cut all sugar out of my diet. Sugar creates the wrong kind of acid. On top of that I drink green tea with fresh ginger and honey every day. And last but not least I started taking just a quarter of a teaspoon of kelp an hour before bed. The kelp increases the iodine which I'm guessing will treat any ulcers or help heal any problems down there? All I know is sometimes the kelp makes my stomach do the happy dance. I also bought some slippery elm bark bc I did have other problems from all this aka leaky gut. But I haven't really used it much. It didn't really seem to do much? Hope some of this helps.
Thank you! Would you expect any of the effects when taking for 4 weeks, 40 mg/day for 2 weeks followed by 2 weeks at 20 mg/day? For gastritis & H. pylori.
I never thought this drug could be so lethal , as a nursing staff I considered this drug to be safest drug.. As I have never seen any immediate side effect resulting from pantoprazole
these are the medications which everybody take regularly for the problem of acidity and gas....its the basic medication which every doctor suggest to take on an empty stomach before taking other medications, so u know now how dangerous it is.....that's why I always preffer ayurvedic medications from planet ayurveda avipattikar churna, or aamla churna for my acidity problem. they also have acidity care pack which is very effective and healthy
If I don’t take my 40mg pantaprazole I literally puke acid non stop! What’s the other option!!?? I can’t function without it but don’t want long term damage
If Pantoprazole works for you, then perhaps you should continue taking it. In order to curb the side effects, try to take Vitamin B-12 & Calcium supplements if necessary (after seeking medical advice from your GI doctor). Don't risk your esophagus getting damaged from puking acid regularly.
Hi, I hope you have found a solution since writing your comment. If not, here is what I did to come off Lansoprazole. I read somewhere that drinking acidic liquids like orange juice would have a fairly immediate impact on the acid production of your stomach. As well as taking the medication every other day to start with it is what I’ve done. As soon as I felt acid coming up I drank some orange juice or kefir and I was soon able to drop the tablets altogether. Good luck
Me too I have to take 40 mg every day or I throw up acid non stop. I have changed diet multiple times. I definitely have reactions from fast food, spicy food or even slightly undercooked meat. But even while watching what I eat I STILL have horrible reflux if I don’t take it. What’s the other option!?
Anyone can understand about the side effects if he/she has a knowledge about Biology, Sometimes doctors don't know the side effects as they are told to sell the drug by the Pharmaceutical companies.
