You should look into a B'root Bar root cutting tool. I'm in the fence industry and it's our go to tool for cutting through large roots. We just fixed a driveway that was being destroyed by oak trees. We found our tool on Amazon and it's worth it's weight in gold.
I have never commented on your videos and I watch them all. I will probably never raise a sidewalk but the concepts that you apply to so many various issues inspires me to adjust the way I fix or build things. There are so many things that can be done with rudimentary easily accessible tools and I genuinely appreciate your brain.
What a great idea to save your sidewalk! I will bet that was a tough job just to get those roots out which looks huge! I would've loved to see the whole project in action. Like how you actually pull those huge roots out of the ground and how those jacks work too. 👍👍👍👍
Good Job. You don't need to feel slighted by not having a BEFORE picture. Most of us have had experiences with sidewalks raised by tree roots and are familiar with how they look.
Great idea! Just wondering, why did you put the wedge anchor bolt off center to the left here? I would have put it off center to the right, closer to the side that needs to be lifted up. But there's probably a reason that you did it this way...
By loosening up soil grade underneath slab, new Roots will no longer grow on top of ground but instead grow deeper like they want to. Anywhere one witnesses surface rooting is a sign of oxygenless compacted soil where it's impossible for roots to grow any deeper.
@@VladTheImpalerTepesIII Not true. That run of sidewalk was simply poured on grade decades ago, and it was simply rest back in place without the roots. the Roots created a gap between concrete and the original soil, now it sits on the soil. No footing needed.
Where did you get the metal chain? I got one from Home Depot -- the chain broken without much force. I ended up with digging ground and used jack directly under concrete, which caused neighboring concrete to chip off at surface. Thank you.
@@markp0177 so is the hole drilled all the way through and the wedge part completely through other concrete, or is the hole drilled part way through and the wedge part in the middle of the concrete?
i used the anchor wedge successfully to raise to 2 slabs but i have 2 steps all in one piece im afraid of blowing out the step stressing it with an anchor,,is that going to be an issue using a half inch anchor and could it lift that much weight,,im assuming its just going to strip out if too heavy,,any info appreciated
@@markp0177 that prolly would have worked i ended up snapping a 4x4 in half then stripping the the single anchor on 2nd try at that point i thought well i guess its time for great stuff expansion foam after watching many successful videos i picked up 2 cans and went to spraying through the concrete holes and to my disbelieve it raised it,,hope i dont wake up in the morning with it 6 inches too high,,thx for responding
@@markp0177 did you go all the way through the concrete so it was actually lifting from under the concrete and not the middle,,seems like the stress on the middle would eventually crack the sidewalk,,thx
