I found them quite interesting pieces. I think the performer could have had a little more sensitivity to some harmonic details, so as to bring out the good stuff
Quite an ironic complaint to make because, of all lesser-known composers - Karg-Elert has quite an individual voice. I remember a friend who used to say that Debussy was derivative of Chopin. Sometimes you come to the conclusion that it's not the composers at fault, but rather - the listeners. An amateur ear is attuned to recognizing similarities... a trained ear recognizes that which is more unique.
