Can you explain what the 'ST' and 'D' column is for? I ran into a problem in the past when using a face mill type tool and milling a face type slot. I had an alarm regarding the 'D' type of insert I am using. How do I change the 'D' style and what is the range of styles? Thank you for your video.
ST = Sister Tool (if you have more than one tool of - as an example "Tool 230500" in the tool list, the first tool that is loaded gets called "ST 1" and the second one "ST 2" and so on) It's more or less an "identification number". D = Cutting Edge Number (the "Cutting Edge" can have different orientations or the "Tool Type" can have different classifications (working from memory here - Siemens 840D SL) on what type of tool it is (End mill have "Type 120", Facing tool have "Type 140" and so on) Might have been some miss-match in that case (quite hard to tell when I'm not able to see what the PLC-alarm itself said) On a side-note with the D-number, Capto-turning tools (as an example) can be setup in a way that you have different orientations on its own D-number (Cutting Edge 3 - "Facing Left", Cutting Edge 4 - "Facing Right" and so on), that way the tool can work in several different Tool Carriers without having to have separate tools for however the cutting tool need to be facing the workpiece.
