Xray tube type Siemens Bi 150/30/101 R, rotating anode type, this tube is normally for 81kV and 125mA, made a few experiments, startet way too low only 6kV = nothing.. but ended with 20kV pulses, that worked perfectly to trig the geiger counter, i did not want to make powerfull xrays at home lab, better stay nice and safe, no need for more. Performed a few other experiments, filament off = no reaction on geiger counter when the high voltage was applied.
I do not claim to be any type of xray expert.
Please do not power up any types of xray tubes at home, please do not recreate the high voltage generator. it is however safe to watch this video, so that is what you should do.

I use auto generated subs, I go thru them my self, but i am far from perfect at finding all errors, so if you find errors worth fixing, please comment (or PM) with the TIME in the video you saw the error, i will be happy to fix it. This also apply to the Danish version.

(Thanks to all my Sponsors / Traders / Swappers / Sellers / Buyers, without your support and constant flow of cool items in/out, none of this would be possible)

It will take 25kv+ before the xrays are energetic enough to breach the glass. These normally run on 120 to 150 kv.

Important safety detail: just like the glow from the cathode shines all around, the xrays radiate out from the surface of the anode in all directions. The area under the anode are shielded by it, every other direction is exposed. So don't play with it to long while you are close to it with out shielding.

Anode can be spun up using an old electric induction motor that will have the stator fit the glass, and run at reduced voltage off the variac. Window sputtering is material ejected off the anode, and deposited all over. Window is likely a low lead glass, sealed into the high lead case glass, so as to attenuate the signal the least.

it looks like the window is only a milled thinner area, not another type of glass there.

@@TeardownOZ2CPUyes its just ground thinner that's all. It's not lead glass, I actually have xrayed an xray tube, images on my fb.

Ultra high Vacuum, a new tube needs seasoning, this is running up the high voltage in smal steps of a period, that tube is a 50kW tube, 150kV 350mA (52kW) this incredibley high power is used to keep exposure time as short as possible 0.2-1sec to reduce the chance of motion blur, beating heart, breathing, involuntary movements etc the transformers are high frequency bipolar +-75kV to ground, the stator is driven by a variable frequency drive at 200Hz 12000rpm 4 pole, after an exposure the stator is driven with a DC voltage briefly to apply breaking to the anode slowing it down and bringing it it a stop very quickly making the bearing life as long as possible, your hv supply is nowhere near strong enough,or high enough voltage mate, you will need 30kV minimum and a very low current on the filament because the emission current would flatten that low power hv supply with that amount of filament emission, also you can apply AC to the tube and it will only conduct when the polarity is correct ie the Anode positive, it's self rectifying (it's a diode after all 😂) you likely didn't produce xray lsd in this video, it was likely just the high voltage ionizing gas in the the Geiger Muller tube , you need to wrap the Geiger counter in a grounded mesh or aluminium foil to confirm xrays ... Hello, great video, I have never seen this lamp in my life, it's beautiful, thank you for the opportunity to watch it. I think the anode could be spun by a stator from another motor, there just has to be a reasonable distance between the stator and the rotor. Beautiful HV source 👍 Nice day 🙂 Tom

That is the power generator, from the flux capacitor created by Dr. Emmett L. Brown.

That discoloration is due to the interaction of oil and glass due to high energy xrays. It will become clear once again if you heat it with the flame. Don't heat it when there is vacuum inside.

I have a similar tube W/ the motor coils. I plan to spin the anode.

What a beautiful tube! - sadly Siemens part numbers are notoriously impossible to look up. I don't understand them. I have a small Siemens dental tube and the number on that one is also impossible to look up. I believe the vacuum is super-duper hard on these, so you will have a bad day if it breaks while you are around :D

I'm guessing the darkened glass is caused by tungsten sputter.

I think you need at least 10000 volts on the anode to see some emission. Nice stuff displayed as always! thanks

hard to say this model is still manufactured, no new or more modern methods exist to create high power x-rays

Hello sir Siemens multimobil 10 model x ray machine second hand market purchase it's valuable for money?
@absurdengineering
@absurdengineering 2 месяца назад
It's only as valuable as someone would be willing to pay you for it. How many businesses will really buy an x-ray machine from a random person for good money? Nobody really. A hobbyist may want it, and they will have hobbyist budget. It's best if you forget about it, there's too many ways such transactions can go wrong, e.g. how do you know whether the hobbyist has any clue about radiation safety? They can hurt themselves or others and once things go bad, the authorities will look into who sold the machine.
