Here i will demonstrate how to take the back up of an S7-1200 PLC Program. Every PLC has its own deivce, network and logic configuration. Using TIA portal, i will upload PLC configuration and save all these configurations to my PG/PC.

I have old code for the programmer who programmed old machine the same type of the machine that I would like to upload the program from the PG to CPU which also consist of two inverter and HMI as well can anybody assist me how is the procedure will follow in steps for example at the beginning I have to connect the PG to the CPU with ethernet then I click the CPU inside the TIA Portal and click up load the program after can I download the HMI program from the same connection where all the nodes connected together with switch and the inverter is connected to the switch as well, because it is first time for me to download machine from scratch so I didn't know exactly how to proceed in such situation, and I don't know if I need to make some adjustment to the PLC CPU hardware or just when connect immediately will communicate with the computer or there's a different IP address already exist, sorry for my long comment but to be honest this is first time I do such stuff so I am worried if I will ruin the hardware of the machine the matter is a little bit sensetive and I wish that the probability of error will be as much as minimum . Well you cannot do that. To find the version of PLC program, connect your PG with any version of TIA and it will tell u in error message in which version PLC has been programmed.
Hi Sir, i need make an upload from a PLC 1200, i checked PLC online and it has tia portal 13, but with hardware version 4.2 So in my PC I have tia portal 13 but the version arrives untill 4.1, when I try to make an upload it goes wrong Is there another possibility to get the online program? HI sir, there is a siemens S7-1200 PLC on our client's site, we have to commission the whole site, for that , backup from the PLC will be very useful, but i don't know anything like the firmware etc., I only know the part number, I have TIA PORTAL V14 . How can i take the backup?
