Wonderful performance, thank you Sierra! We really enjoy your unique and spellbinding music. Please keep it up and I hope you come to the SF Bay Area soon so we can catch you live!
As someone else commented, it's such a treat to watch Sierra evolve and grow so quickly as an artist. Like many others I've scoured youtube for every busking performance I can find - Sierra, your power as a vocalist has always been there - you guitar licks and confidence has grown exponentially - as a songwriter you are already up there with John Prine for me (high praise indeed) and I cant wait for the next album. Take time for yourself - dont let the road grind you down. Blessings.
Wow... moved on some from the Rusty Picks, who were also a great listen. Have tickets for a Glasgow show that I'm praying doesn't fall victim to the cursed covid virus. Good luck in whatever you do Sierra, and thanks for the wonderful music over the past few years.
Sierra sings like an angel with a natural emotional quality that cuts to the core of my being. She and her band play so beautifully is hurts. Her songs will withstand the test of time as each one is a perfect gem. Her quiet confidence is very attractive. She is the only musical artist that brings me to tears. I am so grateful to have found her. I saw her and her band play the Chapel in San Francisco last week and I was completely blown away and in awe of being in her presence. I can't wait to see her again. Much love!
Same experience here. Like she fell right out of an old painting. Her voice, presence, and songwriting with her hooks are timeless. Oh...and that voice. The first time I saw her was in a small venue and we were all brought to tears many times. Glad I know of her and I sing her praises as often as I can.
She is WAY BETTER live than on her record. They try to polish up her songs and give it more of a pop sensibility. This is the best live set of hers I have seen. Her voice is angelic
Oh, that's fine. It sounds 'country' to me, Maybe hillbilly or something. The taxonomy doesm't much matter to me. My point is simply that I like this girl, even though it's not my normal music listening field. (I like the folk line from Joni, Bob and Leonard into the present. People like Joustene Lorenz...@@fractuss
@@Sianny-J-L I know that modern country music is formulaic, lowest common denominator, pop music which bears little resemblance to the music of say Ernest Tubb or Hank Williams. Or Sierra Ferrell.
I feel like I really got this song when I heard her singing it and part where she's ..well..singing the whisper, so to speak, and you can almost, just almost hear it, but she isn't telling.
Excellent session ! Congrats on your Grand Ole Opry debut. Since first hearing you sing, I'd no doubt you'd make your mark there one day soon. Thank you for being the authentic country music star that you are. Stay true to that and I'm certain there will be multitudes of happy and grateful fans like myself.
It seems Sierra and this particular band have played a lot together. It was beyond tight. Sierra and band got into a flowing, floaty musical zone, a musical union that transcends groove. That was just so real and so magical and so deep. Sierra's mention of "uplifting" was spot on. Because, it was a real uplifting to experience what these young musical genius's are throwing down. One word. WOW! Glad I have tickets for Sierra's performance at the Lensic Theater in Santa Fe, NM on April 24th a restored gem of a thirties vintage vaudeville theater 800 capacity . . . in my view a perfect venue and community for Sierra and band. Can't wait!
Sierra and company exemplify how music is not all about glitz, glamour, volume, and showmanship. These 4 lovely individuals bring their best to their show......4 equal parts totalling the result. I am in awe of them following their dreams and playing music to eager ears! I hope for nothing but great success to Sierra and all her musical friends! Don't ever "sell out!"
Love this session, including the technical sound quality. I lack Kurt Jacobs' courage (his comment below) but I do share his reaction. ok ok ok. Josie Toney. Her solos? really great. Her fill-in filigrees between Sierra Ferrell's vocal lines? Really great. Equally great in my estimation is what Josie Toney plays DURING Sierra Ferrell's vocal lines. A risky thing to even attempt! You 'd have to be a real artist. Can you imagine trying to improve the part of a song where SIERRA FERRELL is singing??? Did I mention Josie Toney's harmony singing? Or the back n forth with Oliver Bates Craven's mandolin? These people know what music is for. Going back now to study Josie Toney's strategy 🙂
With you on this. I miss Josie very much. I like what Oliver brings so much, but miss JT bad. There's something about her and Sierra together. This is the 1st time I've seen Oliver and Josie play together with Sierra.
Gosh! So so so good. Great recording (both picture & sound). In my opinion, it would be worth having two extra videos (1 of each of the last two songs) - really peaked for me. Thank you for making & sharing, enjoyed it alot!
