So Sad ☹ This would have been it's 27th year. I remember it's original origins in the Sierra's hence the name Sierra Nevada World Music Festival. Not enough people purchased tickets in the last 2 weeks (or this Reggae Fest) would be going. I have gone since it's origins and last year after the 5 year haitus (due to the founder passing and Covid) was so estatic it was back last year! It is my Favorite Summer memory and I really was looking forward to seeing Third World 🌎 again and David Rodigan UK Dj. Also packed up my RV and got the time off from work and bought grioceries and was ready to go. So so so Bummed! ☹ Very little Roots Reggae Festivals left in the US (most are all Dancehall and not the Roots) Really a Bummer more people did not support SNWMF 2024 by purchasing tickets. 🇬🇳 Yep, wish an Angel donor could step up.
Also was really looking forward to seeing Beres Hammond. It is showing 3 days ago on a SNWMF post there were 58 Vendors (these were market place vendors) not even counting the food vendors. They purchased all that food to sell and now they have to offload it (sell it) I feel sorry for the vendors and also some people stay in Boonville in Airbnbs which can be non-refundable. Really is such a Bummer for everyone involved and especially the bands. I want to say I am hopeful SNWMF will continue yet hard to say. We have had one Festival in Seven years so who knows. Hopefully in Jah will it can continue.
Made the trip from the east coast and am out here for my 65th birthday celebration 😢 It doesn't get more unprofessional than this imo. Devastated!!! Rented an rv that I can't get a refund for... Sorry for venting.

Am Happy 😊 to have just seeing Burning Spear play a couple weeks ago and before that Steal Pulse. Was Fun yet Casino shows are not at all the same as the outdoor Summer Reggae Festivals. Will miss the small Redwood stage at SNWMF next weekend and will miss the Giant Rasta Puppets that walk around. 😮
I've been to this fest a few times and it was great. Got mixed up myself this year, as I had the fest going off during it's typical Father's Day Weekend, June 14, 15 & 16.. Did the dates switch at some point or moved back before finally being canceled? And, regarding the cancellation announcement, if the event organizer knew she couldn't cover the bills, then she was correct in it's cancellation. It's sorta similar to an employer who must tell her workers to stay home if she knows she can't pay them. Otherwise, that's fraud and would open her up to potentially more litigation. She's likely to get sued as it is anyways. Unfortunate deal for everyone. Too bad a savior with bigga pockets couldn't have come in to rescue the event in some form.
@@nomotrouble123 Ok, thanks for this clarification. In all of the past years I recall, it was always during Father's Day weekend. Which explains why I could only ever attend 1 day instead of all 3. Wondering if the migration away from the traditional festival weekend (Father's Day) might've had anything to do with the fest's troubles? Pretty sure inflation and it's ill effects had a key role in the festival demise.
@@user-cq3ju5kv6q Not to sound argumentative over what might seem a trivial concern, but if what you're saying is true, then for the last 10 years of the fest and beyond (25 years?), Summer Solstice has coincidentally fallen on Father's Day weekend. I've followed this festival and attended multiple years and the main reason why I've never been able to attend more than 1 day any year is precisely because of Father's Day weekend duties, which has involved juggling competing itineraries for myself. Fact. Adding: Looks like our debate may be a moot point now, as it's doubtful that the fest will have legs in the future after this year's debacle. js
@darrink3563 Fathers day is the third sunday in june every year. The solstice is the 21st of june every year. So when june 1 is the first sunday, fathers day is on the 15th. If however june 1 was monday, fathers day would be celebrated on the 21st of june. SNWMF always tried for the weekend closest to the solstice. Fathers day dates vary according to what day of the week the first day of june is.
