On the final day of our Sierra ride we pedal straight from camp at about 6000 feet and descend to the north end of Bass Lake at 3415 feet. Our camp is set near the junction of Central Camp Road and Beasore Road which is part of the Sierra Scenic Byway. The trails we ride follow a different drainage than Day 3 with very little climbing. We moved all vehicles down to the lake before riding so we can leave straight from the lake back to So Cal.
If you are in the area, be sure to say hello to Mike or Jorge at Pedal Forward to ask about trail conditions. If you are riding in the high country, expect downed trees or creeks that could be difficult to forge earlier in the season. The boys at Pedal Forward are involved with the local trail maintenance crews (shout out to Yosemite South Gate Trail Cooperative) and know what is running good at any given time. They also can be your guides if you are not comfortable using a map.
