@@thestompinggroundsofficial how far and what bait did you guys use to get those Bonita and mackerel. We are in fishing kayaks and needed to know how far off shore you guys were. I know a Bonita would be a blast to reel in ! 😂 it looked great in your video.
Just depends on time of year and location. Pelagics move and follow temperature gradients and food sources, and I'm sure for a lot more reasons than I know. Bait shops are a great source of local info. We live in Indiana so I have no idea what is biting. But live bait is king. When it comes to Spanish, casting gotcha plugs and spoons can be very effective. And for Bonita troll a couple plugs at various depths.
@@thestompinggroundsofficial we are fishing that exact same spot in siesta key sorry I wasn’t clear. I was looking to see how you guys caught those Bonita and mackerel and how far off land you were when you caught them.
@trenton Thompson, we were fishing a self off the coast less then a mile out. As soon as we hit the drop off into deeper water the Bonita and mackerel were chasing live bait non stop. I hooked a Bonita off camera and it stripped my line down to the backing and had to fire up the engine and chase after it. If you’re looking for a good local guide me and a buddy go with Captain RC Gilliand, he’s on Facebook and does 4 hour trips for about 350 if I remember right. I can get you his number if you need it
