I find it strange to see a jkd teacher showing how to side kick to the stomach when the more affective side kick would be to the knees finish a self defence asap a side kick to the knees is harder to defend then a side kick to the stomach. As a jkd man your main goal is to finish a fight asap .hit the targets you cant train the eyes the groin knee cap wind pipe .some guys have very strong stomachs from doing lots of sit ups you cant train what i just said above. Jkd is not a sport or mma like most think it is .jkd has been misrepresented by one of bruces students and he is the same guy that everyone seems to listen to .but ill go by the founders philosophy not his .ps the same guy said that only bruce lee could do certain things in jkd. To say this is a cop out because he could not do it.i know some jkd teachers that teach jkd with out trapping and chain punching.bruce lee had moved away from the above yet most teach this and are teaching bjj also when they should know that in a street fight you do not want to go to ground they then say what if it gos to ground bite him and if you train well you dont have to go to ground the other guy can go there and you can walk away or run .see most have never had a street fight bruce lee did thats why he left a lot of stuff out of his jkd as trapping dont work in real fight you try and catch a boxers hand in a real fight you are not doing it .simplicity is key in jkd simple and direct. I think most jkd teachers have not studied bruce lees art of jkd .they listened to that guy and he brought concepts into jkd also not bruce .concepts has nearly destroyed jkd as it has put a split between jkd practitioners. And his students have turned jkd into a mess that i see today .its sad but true
