I had the choice between the two, and I chose the Legion. I love the looks, trigger, frame, smaller controls and grips. Excellent guns though. You can’t go wrong with either.
This is an awesome video. I have the MK25, and you explained a lot. I see now that I chose the right gun for me. I had the choice of getting the Legion. I love Sig. Keep up the great work. New sub here. Take care and God bless.
I just purchased the Mk25 and I had doubts but this video made me realize that this is in fact my war gun lol. I want the legion as a collectors piece but I wanted the elite as a home defense. However when I saw the Mk25 I couldn't resist. I will get the legion whenever I see one at my local ffl
Good comparison. I have the MK25 and an Extreme. The Extreme came with the SRT trigger, forward slide serrations, night sights, G10 grips. It is close to the Legion in features. The MK25 lacks the grips and SRT trigger. It's odd that after I added the SRT to the MK25 it actually has a slightly shorter reset than the factory installed Extreme has. If I had to keep only one it would probably be the MK25 and change the grips.
I love my MK25, there is a difference in the rail. The reset, and trigger. I put the SRT, short trigger and upgraded the night sights too the X-Ray 3 night sights
Sig does carry the Legion optic cut slide that are cut for red dot, to fit the RMR, romeo 1 pro, and a few others, as well as the Legion pro cut slide as well that is optic cut.
I just picked up a P229 Legion DA/SA, manufactured 2/16/24. The model number is E29R-9-LEGION-R2. It comes optic ready, I believe the R2 in the model number refers to it being optic ready.
You can't go wrong either way. There is a new spec on the Legion DA/SA as they are coming in the RXP version as they always have, but also they are now coming with an optic ready slide (no ROMEO1PRO just an optic plate). Check out a video I just did on this on my channel. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ONuVKlUWpTc.html
Good video Brother… great topic. I own both and really gravitate towards the MK - the trigger is well broken in and is very close to the Legion. The durability of the coatings is a really nice feeling to have behind you, the pic rail is solid, and the gun has worn very nicely. Sure, the Legion has the grips I guess even though the MK feels great and the beaver tail which isn’t enough to sway me as well as the sights. I’ll take the MK 25 all day for it is tried and true and suits my needs as a battle gun.
Overall I’d say the Legion is a better gun but it’s definitely personal preference. I opted for the mk25 because i prefer the older school short beavertail and because I don’t like the grey color on the legion. Plus…that anchor… cmon. Lol. But if the legion was more readily available in black or if the law enforcement versions were easier to find it would’ve been a much more difficult decision for me.
Around here, SAO is LEO only. I thought I wanted SAO but am appreciating de-cock feature my mk25 more and more. It is easy enough to cock first round for all SA action.
Massachusetts resident, sadly. Just a heads up, my MK25 (purchased new 2 weeks ago) WILL fire without a magazine inserted. It came with three 10 round magazines, and has a small window hole notch on the rear of the barrel shroud used as an LCI.
Interesting, I referenced 940-CMR-16.01: Definitions. “Magazine Safety Disconnect” shall mean a device that prevents the firing of the handgun when the magazine is detached from the handgun. Does your MK25 have the abbreviation “MA” so does it read “MK25-MA”?
My apology. I never got the notification of your reply. My P226 is indeed an MK-25-MA model. I completely disassembled the pistol when I bought it to clean it (damn Sig grease everywhere) and to add the SRT kit, TacOps magwell grips, GG's DACT, and 17# hammer spring. There is no MDS system installed in the locking block whatsoever (standard open port block), and she fires just fine with no mag inserted.
@@bfgprecisionthe difference on the MA version is there is a very small hole back of the barrel you can look down and see a round in the chamber without a chamber check. It as actually a benefit in my experience. I assume since it is DA/SA that is why there is no need for a safety based on MA law, and probably the same with firing without the magazine
I have a p226 legion da/sa and im in the market for a p220 legion 45acp and p229 legion as well. My local store sells the mk25 for the same amount as a legion, if i could somehow score a mk25 for under $1k ill buy that as well.
@@clo8076 appreciate it glad you enjoyed the video. The magazines are 10 round capacity. They are different on the bottom because of the spacer that’s integrated into the baseplate.
Neither one of those. I'm happy with the P226 Elite. Why pay $400 more for silly Legion emblems and silly coin, and the MK25 doesnt come with the Short Return Trigger.
The procut slide is stainless steel. I thought about an optic cut on my MK25 but decided against it. I actually put the pistol back to stock except I left the SRT in and I installed a set of G10 black checkered grips.
For the carry. I had a 507k on mine and loved it but had a gap. Apparently they created a solid plate that allows you to add RMRcc, 507k, eps carry to prevent overhang
@@ccooke8935 its too late I went with the MK25, and like it ,,,,but that doesnt mean that I wont get the Legion later on ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8yEWnE_kmbo.html
