I have had my P230 since 1986. It is currently my CW everyday carry. Has never bit me. It is the most reliable weapon I have ever owned and the modern .380 ACP self defense round have turned it into a deadly Carry weapon.
I've had mine since I bought it, brand new. Shot hundreds of rounds though it, and never had slide bite! I'd trust my life to this little pistol, without worry. No jams, no failure to feeds, and excellent accuracy! A bit heavy, but carries very well, and easy to shoot!
Slide bite can happen with how you grip the pistol. The Hogue rubber finger grips may help those who suffer this type issue. The Sig Sauer P230 pistol was issued by many Law Enforcement agencies throughout the world. It is a very reliable and accurate pistol. I was told it was an improvement to the Walther PPK.
I replaced the stock grip with a Pachmyr over-molded rubber grips. No issues with bite ever since, and best of all, the finger grooves help with stability. Although i tend to use other 380s for carry now, but the Sig is my favorite 380 to shoot bar none.
So many people speak of the slide bite. I have thick fat hands but I've never had my 230 bite me. Great gun not in my favorite caliber. But it shoots like a laser. Points instinctively and my old eyes prefer the Van Haversagen sight picture. I see it as my "as I get old edc" .
I think the P232 SL came with the hogue grips with finger grooves. They look very comfortable for sure. I hope to get out again soon for another round w it and see if we can minimize the rub.
Your getting slide bite be cause your holding it wrong. Your thumb is too high on your shooting hand. When youfire the gun make sure your thumb rests on the indent on the grip
I agree. These guns weren't designed for that super high hold that's popular today. I find blowbacks are easier to control when you exert more pressure lower on the grip. Keeps the tang from hammering into your hand.
