Historic Investments: what a collector needs to know about the SIG P49, 3rd Variation. The P49 was the Swiss military version of the commercial P210. Often considered the finest military issue pistol in the world, it was made from 1949 until its replacement in the mid 1970s by the P75.

I bought a p210 standard and it is a badass pistol, bar None, trigger breaks at 2 lbs, from the factory. A nail driving machine.....

I read the mold dates in the grips is some indication of when they were assembled. The grips being as much as 2 years older.

Bonjour, comment est-il possible de manier une arme sans que le cran de sureté soit activé? Ce n'est pas une façon d’éduquer les tireurs. Le P210, contrairement à d'autres armes permet d'utiliser le cran de sureté en toutes circonstances!

The Transitional model should have the flat slide stop, like that of the 1st variation. Along with the serial number range and grip escutcheons (which you correctly point out), the flat slide stop is a telltale feature of the Transitional model.
