Thanks for making the video. I just bought a sp2022 and I was looking for disassembly videos when i came across your video. The slide disassembly is pretty much exact, especially when removing the firing pin. I appreciate the help with your video and it made cleaning the slide of the sp2022 so much easier.

The P226 Legion is slightly different. After watching this I got the idea. In the Legion version the Extractor pin and the 2 springs need to be removed as well. Thanks for the video.
I have a Legion P220. For reasons I won't bore you with, despite weapon being four years old, it hasn't been fired. It has been cleaned several times, including recently and stored indoors in climate controlled home. I was bugged by performing an eraser test on firing pin. The pencil barely clears the barrel while at 30 degree angle. I don't know if that's a problem. I got concerned lately just because SIG hammers have that look like they aren't really striking pin hard enough. With that concern in mind, I discovered the pencil test. Specifically regarding 220, I read that it should clear by a couple feet. Mine is a Legion with a lighter trigger pull...maybe that's the reason pencil doesn't clear but by a few inches. Thoughts?
Great video - The process worked well on MK-25 and .40 but my W German one has a solid retaining pin, not a roll pin that doesn’t want to budge. Any tricks for that one? Heat? Hit it harder?
Love your channel sir, the step by steps are on point. I have an early gen p226. After driving out the roll pin and I depress the safety plunger, the firing pin stays put. I simultaneously depressed the firing pin and released it quickly to see if I could get it to pop out, but no luck... any suggestions? Also, any instruction on removing the extractor (it's internal) would be greatly appreciated!
I want to do this but my slide has a long extractor claw because of that one can only see the roll pin from the left i need advice on how to disassemble my slide
By any chance do you happen to know if the 220 and the 226 firing are the same. I mixed the pins up but they look the same. Anyway having a terrible tome reinstalling firing pin. Pin is stuck in slide and having a devil of a time removing it. Thanks
well done again. You say "once in a while"; this is too vague for me. Would you say do this every 1000, 2500, or 5000 rounds? Does sig have any "official" guidelines for this maintenance ? Thanks, enjoy your videos,
Scott VanWormer good question. Maybe once a year? 🤷🏻♂️ I’m always taking mine apart to try different upgrades. I shoot just about every weekend also. I think for me once a year would be practical. Got to remember.... most probably NEVER get taken apart and cleaned. I guess it really just depends on how severe you OCD is. 😁
Thanks for the guidance. Only other info I have regarding this the from sigs legion rep who told me they recommend sending my Legion series P229 and P226 pistols in every 5000 rounds for a complete refurbishment. Not sure if this would apply to their other series. Nice to be able to do your own detail work though which is why I enjoy your videos. Thanks again.
Hey man I have a factory refurbished p226 that shoots all over the place after the first 2 or 3 shots of a full mag. The first 2 shots are usually spot on. This has been confirmed by 3 shooters now. Any ideas? I was thinking a shot out barrel but I feel like that would be blatantly obvious visually.
I would start with the recoil spring. But this is probably user error despite 3-4 different shooters. Finger tip placement matters on all my Sigs. Pull the trigger from the tip of your finger not the first joint. Try that after the recoil spring.

That certainly gives me no hope that elbow grease will cut it then. Congrats on getting it off. Let me know if it's easier next time. I bet it will be.
In many cases where light strikes were present it was believed to be caused by lubrication and or debris in striker cavity. It is SIGs procedure not to lubricate at all any of the strikers or firing pins.
I'm very grateful for your tutorials, these are much appreciated and saves us dollars on sending it to Sig, etc. Do you know why my 226 trigger won't reset normally? The pull itself is fine, on the return the trigger is slow and mushy. I'm planning on trying a new trigger return spring and hoping this helps. Any thoughts? Have a great new year! Jeff
What kind of grips did you put on your p226? They look nice. Are they thinner than the originals. My hands are not to big and I would like slightly thinner grips.
@@SigGuy Thanks for the reply! I had a heck of a time trying to get the front sight out, as I had read they go out right to left. It only came out after a friend of mine mentioned his came out left to right so I tried that. Still broke the sight though so it was a real bugger to get out. Don't really want to go through that again.

@@SigGuy huh.. i can't figure how that would be possible as there isn't a connection between the hammer and the frame as found in a striker fired handgun.
@RideForLifeCR250R They trigger doesn’t need to be pulled but it should be decocked. If a SRT trigger is installed the pistol should be decocked in order for the safety lever to completely retract. The slide can still be taken off and put back on without decocking but the SRT safety lever will be forced out of the way each direction.
