Sight loss Q&A featuring a special guest- My childhood best friend who spent a month living with me recently. Witnessing my sight loss over the years, we thought that it would be interesting for Alice, whom is sighted, to ask me a series of questions about my sight loss!
Get your tea ready!
Covering topics such as: The process of losing my vision and my feelings surrounding it, the perks of being blind, canes, misconceptions, dealing with insensitive comments, my favourite VI gadget, how blindness is represented in the media, dating, advice I'd give to my younger self and more!
P.S. I probably didn't do the best job at syncing my video and audio together... but seeing as I can't see very well, you'll let me off the hook right :D

Brilliant, I have rod-come dystrophy and never know how to compare/describe it to sighted people. Can you give me some help?

Hey! I’m not sure if mine and yours would be exactly the same as it’s it’s different for everyone. I think I cover how I describe things in this video! I describe it as an old gritty filter across my vision (like you know those crackly screens?!). With darker patches across my vision in certain points. And invisibly, there’s more to it, like lack of colour, and depth perception. :-) it’s hard to describe / compare it to a sighted persons vision when you don’t know what they exactly see! Hope this helps

@@nazanvisions yea! That’s the way I describe it with patches and low definition etc. I have had it since birth and started getting worse bout 8-9 years old and I’m 20 now. It’s very restrictive but makes you more determined and obviously gets you down but try to use it as a positive don’t you?
