Short discussion about why I bought this oscilloscope and the noise around it. TheDefpom Review: • #218 Siglent SDS1202X-... Dave Teardown: • EEVblog #985 - Siglent...
I agree with you totally I bought this same model 1 week ago $349. Amazon, I love this scope very fast very easy to use more measurements displays than I can use. For your first home scope you can’t go wrong. 3 year warranty.
The processor in the Siglent is dual core ARM, twice as fast as the Rigol 1054Z. The Rigol hopefully gets a refresh soon. Single core processors in oscilloscope is unescessary in this day and age.
Your two signals do not have a common timebase. The scope will lock to Input1, Input2 or External but only one at a time. If both your signals came from the same source, they would be stable relative to each other.
My thoughts exactly. The whole point of a dual beam oscilloscope is to display timing relationships. If there is no synchronicity those relationships have no meaning, so to display TWO locked waveforms would be misleading.
Just saw your vid. Thanks and appreciate your approach, My 1202 should arrive tomorrow. Can't wait? I realize you have limited experience with Oscopes also limits you as an authority. But, you middle of the road honesty helps me feel good about my purchase. I subscribed and look forward to other things you want to share. Terry
I am an unexperienced hobbyist.... n' thinking of this one SDS 1202X E, but I don't get it why some get SDS1202X S with the decoder key bundle that costs USD 200 more.
good luck with your projects. I am also confused whether to go for 1202X E or 1054z hacked. I know Rigol is older shows its age esp when doing FFT. I would suggest doing a FFT on square wave. Lets see how is the performance.
+GameProgrammer79 thank you. Good idea for video. A few people already done videos on this but one more wouldn't hurt. Rigol has four channels. If you don't need four channels then you can go with singlent. I will make a project video soon.
I reveived my SDS1202X-E on Monday, and noticed there was a different software version in it, then what is in yours. Perhaps they corrected something, because there is an R2 after it now. Release 2? 5.1.3.8R2
Thank You for the video. Can you set reference wave so that you can view new wave and old wave together? Also about these 2 different signals, you probably couldnt show them together as they are different frequencies and you can only change time base for both channels at once, but I might be wrong. Greetings
Yes. SDS-1202X-E provides ability to save 2 waveforms at a time and then recall them to compare. You are right on the timebase part. Since the frequencies are too different it is not possible to change timebases individually. Either you change for both (as it is time and common for both channels) or none. Thanks for stopping by!
Suresh Lingabathina Babu hantek is cheaper but siglent is much better quality. Of course that's my opinion. Choose any one of these two. You will learn a lot and have a lot of fun.
What bothers me is the ugly looking sinusoidal curve. I intended to buy a Siglent SDS 1202X-E, but now I'm in doubt. I already have an Owon XDS3102A, which is not perfect, but still looks nicer. Thanks for eye opening. Well, it does not mean I will not buy a SDS 1202X-E one. Instead of four channel oscilloscope, I can synchronize two two-channels.
+Maks Berlec, I see the confusion. The sine wave is generated using Arduino and a dirty code. I didn't have a signal generator back then. I think the sine wave looks fine on my scope. You can see some other reviews and there are pretty nice comparison videos available. Thanks for commenting.
