This is Sigma's latest 18-200mm superzoom lens, in their new 'Contemporary' lineup. I don't normally love superzoom lenses, but this one has received some attention on the internet for being supposedly a little sharper than the competition. How does it measure up?

Thanks for all the reviews! I have trouble deciding on a superzoom that doesn't suck. I have the Canon 80D and I mostly use primes, 135mm f/2 L being my favorite, but I need a travel lens with image stabilization, preferably 18 to 200mm. I had the Canon 18-135mm, but I found it to be too short sometimes when traveling... Other than that it seems to be the best one there is. Life is hard after shooting with actually good lenses and then trying to not hate the cheaper ones :D

Got this lens in 2024 to have one lens to carry around when traveling. Negotiated the price to make it worthwhile. I am hoping comment on darker aperture on zoom can be compensated with shutter and iso.

Best review in the world ever! Nobody can beat chris.i was looking for your review at sigma 18-250mm macro.but i cant find one.ive been thinking if this 18-200 sigma is much better than 18-250 sigma.any suggestions? Anyway your background music is relaxing, and your voice is soft like 200mm zoom range.

Hello! I could say I'm your fan! I broke my kit lens so I've spent like 50+ hours over the past 3 months reading and watching reviews about some lenses and I've found yours always to be the best ones! So I hope you could help me in this one! I'm a student from Mexico, the minimum salary is about almost 4 dolars per day, so you can imagine how expensive is to buy for us even the cheapest lens. I'm can't decide between the Tamron 16-300 or this one, the Sigma 18-200 C. Here, the Tamron is exactly twice the price of the Sigma, so thats a big advantage for the 18-200 so far, but I find the fact that the Tamron gives me 16mm extremely helpful! Also the 300mm instead of just 200mm is better. But, it seems that Sigma offers much better quality, so if you were in my situation, which one would you choose? Thank you so much for your amazing helpful reviews!

Hello there! I really like your reviews here's my little story, I purchased the 7D canon and clumsy me dropped it and broke the kit lens that came with it which was the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM I believe, I am still ashamed of my clumsiness. I used the camera withe the ever useful nifty fifty that I have 50 mm 1.8F for around 5 months now, and that has been useful, but the fixed too zoomed in setting of the lens is rather inconvenient in many situations.. anyway I would like you to recommend a good carry around lens as a substitute for my broken kit lens, ofc with a reasonable price and decent image quality, I'd be ever thankful

I want a pretty cheap (max 500 USD) lens that has a zoom range of about 50-200 (doesn't have to be exact that range) and is a bit faster than 6.3 at 200mm. is that something which exists? I know that 70-200 lenses exist and I like them but they are both expensive and huge lenses which makes it exhausting to carry them around for a long time.

Tells me all I want to know, not a likely candidate for me then. Currently looking for a replacement for my Nikon 18-55mm kit lens with something that is sharp yet does have at least some zoom range. I do have the Sigma 50mm F1.4, which I pretty much love to use. I also have a Tamron 70-300mm lens which is great for low budget and still getting pretty good images. I am looking for something along the lines of 18 or 24mm up to 70 or 105 mm (or 200mm) yet still great value for your money. Really do need one asap because I have a trip to Thailand where I need to act as wedding photographer. So I really can use a better lens for that. If you have some suggestions, please do give them. Kinda lost in the forest of lenses not knowing what would be the best for me.

+SIG442 Nikon's 18-105, 18-135, 18-140 lenses are some value for money, although they are 'kit' lenses. By the 18-55 I think you are DX, I recommend the Sigma or Tamron 17-50 f2.8 lenses. They are sharp. Or the Sigma 24-105 f4(Super sharp lens!).

Why would you recommend a Sigma in the Tamron 18-200mm review video? That’s why I came here but looking at both the videos. I felt the Tamron was a better performer in every sphere be it, auto-focus, Image Stabilisation, comparatively less chromatic aberration, vignetting & darkening. Even the picture quality and bokeh is rubbish with this lens but its overpriced, Tamron is way lot cheaper and provides better functionality.
