Kensei-san, Finally i have bought my very first camera. i end up buying Sony A7IV with kit lens. although im starting with this hobyy. i was already blown away with the images i took, and i dont even know what those symbols in lcd means 😅(still learning). now watching more of your lens content makes me wanna crave for more lens. oh god my wife loved the portraits i took of her but wont definitely be happy once she know the price of this hobby.
I wanted to wait for this comparison video however, I was in a rush and bought Tamron. I'm from Kazakhstan and the prices are 1275$ for sigma and 780$ for Tamron. Two main reasons were the price (500$) difference and the size/weight, Tamron is much lighter and since I got a7cii and I wanted to be compact and light. Overall, I'm satisfied with the lens, but I got the same issue with autofocus. Sometimes it's super sharp and when it is not in the good mood, it focuses as bad as in the video.
I bought my Tamron G2 for the A7C (1) late 2023, cost me around 550 USD. Later on I started using the combo for concerts and it’s super solid 💪It stays on for 70-80% of the event, I can’t help it 😁 If Sigma II had been around late 2023 with a similar price, I’d buy it!
The Art lens is better in any way in my opinion. But the Pricepoint (i paid around 530€) of the Tamron is so appealing regarding the experience and quality delivered at that pricepoint. Though if you would like to upgrade to the first super high quality lens regarding image quality, I'd easily tell people to get the Sigma.
Tough one in regards to Price-Performance-Ratio: Sigma is 1.349 Euro, Tamron only 849 Euro. But if you buy the Tamron in Combination with a Sony A7 IV, it's only 549 Euro.
Anybody who reads this. used A7iii at 1000$ (friend selling) or brand new FX30 at 2500$ ? (this is the price in France) This is for shooting videos only and I intend to shoot wedding videos (and more). My total budget is around 4500$ to create my gear. I've practiced over 2 years on a EOS M50 iii. thanks a lot
I’m happy you posted this, as I recently bought the tamron g2 as an upgrade for my sigma 28-70 contemporary. The image quality is better from the tamron by about 15-20%, but I was having the same auto focus issues… which is a bit of a deal breaker. Now I don’t know weather to stick with what I already have … the Sigma 28-70 or fork out for the sigma 24-70 art ii. Or wait and see if there is a firmware upgrade 🤷🏽♂️
If you are gonna do video first then photo just chose tamron. But I cant say for certain because I have not used the newer sigma. But what I can say is that tamron definitely has better glass for video stuff. The sigma is just too contrasty and the focus roll off or what ever is too harsh. There is something soft but sharp like a cine glass about the tamron but the build is plastic so some may not like it. I have had this lens for like 3-4 years and its amazing. Also better autofocus than the older sigma in videos, cant say anything on the newer one. But be careful full because the front glass does get scratched easily. I am thinking about getting a new one.
Hey Kensei ! Sorry that the question is out of context of the video, but I need your opinion. I have the option to choose between the ZV-E1 with the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 or the FX30 with the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 + Sigma 16mm f1.4 (or the Viltrox 13mm f1.4) . Since I’m just starting my career as a videographer and plan to shoot music videos and social media content, which setup would you recommend?
I had Tamron 28-75 G2 VXD for several weeks and can confirm that autofocus is very slow and not precise compared to sigma 28-70 and Sony 28-60. I am doing in general family fotos with kids. I sold tamron even I liked IQ and thinking now again to buy sigma 28-70 or Sony 24-50.
