Hello friends,
In this video, I am teaching you how to add advanced-level checks to the basic sign-up/login app that I taught in the last class.
We will be adding the empty username and password text boxes checks and we will also add checks for duplicate user names so that users aren't able to sign up with an existing user name.

Amazing Amazing Amazing... Your way of explaining is amazing and so easy to understand. Might be one of the best channels covering MIT App Inventor. ... Don't know if you can maybe help. Its also signup related. Is there a way that I can monitor or view signup info? For instance, if 5 people signup to my app and lets say a week later I would like to edit or remove an user from the data base, is there a way I can view all the signed up users?

Thank you for your positive feedback about my channel 😊 For your query, you have 3 options: 1. If you want to continue with the default CloudDB offered by MIT app inventor, we have an issue. This CloudDB is associated with exactly one app against your mit app inventor account. So, if you want to view all users or do some removals, then you have to do it within the same app. Add an admin account to your sign up Screen and when that person logs in, he/she can do administrative tasks like viewing or removing users. You can use listview for showing users. I have done multiple tutorials on listview but the simplest one is my shopping list tutorial. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kBt2fzEba1c.htmlsi=RBUXsfdswJu8EFx2 2. The second option is using free CloudDB account offered by REDIS. I have covered that in my tutorials about making two different apps: one for making a quiz and one for taking a quiz. There is also another option, and that is using Google sheets for storing sign up data instead of CloudDB. OK. So it is possible if you are using a webviewer to build your app. Just add a sharing component from Social palette in designer view. You also need to add a button for share icon. On button click, use the sharing component's share message procedure and pass it the Web viewer's current url

Hey I have a question. If the app I'm making is to be used by both android and iPhone users, do I add the newest feature that you added in the video for iphone and expect it to work for both Android and iPhone, or do I make separate apps with specific code to cater for both the Android and Iphone users? Sorry, I'm a mega beginner with coding, and I'm just doing this for school.

Hello, As long as you are not using an extension or location sensor, the same code will work for both android and iPhone. So, yes for this advanced sign up , the app will work for both iPhone and android. Just remember that you can't install mit app inventor apps on iPhone and need a companion app for them to work whereas the same apps can be installed on android devices.

@@ObsidianSoftEducation Hey I'm sorry, I have another question. How do I make sure that each username/account that signs into the app has their own individual saved data? I realized when testing out using multiple usernames, that the data of the each individual account is not separate and does not save. I'm sorry if you're busy.

I am sorry but can you explain your question further. We are storing each username as a tag, and against that tag, we are storing that password as a value. This way, we can store multiple usernames along with their passwords. What data are you talking about? Do you mean information other than password for user name? If you want to store more information, you can store it in a list against the tag username.

This is what this advanced sign up tutorial is all about....duplicate user name check. In this tutorial, I have taught how to show error message when the user name already exists in the database. If you don't want this check then follow the basic sign up login tutorial.

When does it get stuck? Are you giving it correct login information to proceed to next screen? The app behaviour should be same for both companion and installed app.

@@ObsidianSoftEducation i added a loading screen in first page after the loading screen is completed it should be proceed to login /signup screen but unfortunately its stuck at the loading screen.

What is happening in the loading screen? Just a clock's timer running or something else? Uncheck timer always fires and test again whether it works.

In this design shown in the tutorial, a user has to log in to go to the next screen. If you want the design to be different and you want the user to go to the next screen after he signs up, you can open another screen after storing the new username and password in cloudDB. This will happen in CloudDB's gotValue event.

@@ObsidianSoftEducationAlright so lemme see if I get it. If I wanted to do that I whould go to the block that is "When cloudDB. Got value" and go all the way down to (if compare text = " ") and then call cloudDB to store both the user and password, I could simply put a block that sends the user to the main screen? (Open screen name MainMenu)
