This is why Luke is by far one of the best drummers out there today! And my favourite/idol "Internet/RU-vid" drummer! Adam Gray, Matthew Greiner, Luke Holland, Brandon Burkhalter, Matt McGuire in my opinion take the cake for best/fave drummers out but theres something about qhat Mr Holland can do on the kit! keep it up, inspiring and pure bliss to watch and to strive for!
What I love is that 7 years later I can look at drums totally different and see so many new possibilities, it's like when I first was learning everything. We may run out of possibilities, but the drums never do!
Matt Halpern is my teacher and I'm surprised he hasn't done this yet. I started with him in 2011 and he changed my playing so much. Learning Periphery parts from the periphery drummer was crazy! He does a crazy thing with nursery rythmes that really helped me.
Luke is so very young but a very good drummer. I like all what he's doing on drums and I hope all drummers whatching this video are learning a lot from him. Thanks, Drumeo.
Luke's the reason plus my own determination is why I do what I do as a drummer humbly 💯💪 keep it up bro, one day I hope to get some private lessons from you.
@@rippindrummer666 it's crazy how many bands don't realize THE VOCALS are make-or-break for any band. Most vocals are HORRENDOUS in every way: annoying, generic, etc.
I'm glad I finally get to hear this dude talk. I've been watching this dude's videos since high school and really hoped he was just super focused in his videos and not arrogant. That's just me being dumb though. Luke seems really down to earth!
To any and all watchin as well as Luke himself, that "space" your talking about happens naturally as we progress as drummers, especially going from a marching snare approach to a more proffesional kit approach, i'm dealing with the same thing, i spent so long playing along to songs in my bedroom alone, that when other musicians are involved i end up having to back off and allow their sound to shine through as well, its a strange transition but super fun
Dude, you guys said it right. Luke, idk if you remember dude but the drum cover you did of " the commanded" by Memphis mayfire was the vid that inspired me to me to play. Been six years strong now and I'll never stop 👍
My mind is blown. I've always loved Luke Holland, and I've listened to the crap out I See Stars' new album. HOW DID I NOT KNOW LUKE HOLLAND PLAYED DRUMS FOR THAT ALBUM
Drumeo Love your videos! Please bring us Gavin Harrison! Hes an absolute genius and a great teacher! Would love to see what he could bring to the Drumeo community. Thank you!
Watched this video 3years ago and The hihat on 23:25 really shapes my way of playing today i kinda completely forgot about the whole groove and just focused on the hihat but now hearing the groove again i can play it perfectly
THIS VIDEO WAS TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD. Thanks for getting LUKE friggin' HOLLAND on-board!!! SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETNESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
You should interview Boris Williams (ex The Cure). The guy did some wonderful work and during his stay, The Cure turned into a stadium band. His china cymbal hits in Just Like Heaven must be the most famous in music history. His pattern in Last Dance is very good and inspiring. There are other patterns and intros that are worth listening to: Intro in Inbetween days, Why Can't I be you, Just like heaven, Torture and patterns like in Sinking, Last Dance, The same deep water as you, Fascination street, If only tonight we could sleep, Closedown, High, etc etc!
he is very good, you can see that he really loves and respect his craft. he deserve the respect no matter if you dont like his ig youtube thing.. or the fact that he is good loking.
Hey guys - thanks for the continued quality on the vids! A suggestion: Maybe add links to the artist's webpage/s/social media etc so we can check them out easily.
Given that he's a fantastic clinician/teacher in his own right, and, of course, one of the most phenomenal drummers alive right now, I think JP Bouvet would be a great choice to have on one of your Drumeo lessons, Jared!
So you have a fill that everyone on youtoube refers to as "the monster fill"? There is nothing wrong with his chops, if there was Drumeo would not have invited him on just to teach them to people.
1) he was 23 or 24 at the time of this video, so def old enough to shave 2) I'd be elated to have half of his chops. I would love to see you do anything CLOSE to Luke.
Sad how people are commenting asking to get different people on and completely overlooking how talented this guy actually is He's well younger than half the guys people have mentioned in the comments and he's on par if not better than them Can fully say I'm a Luke Holland simp
As always, awesome stuff Drumeo!!!. I know that there are some amazing drummers in the way!. (But i just want to name a few others for you to have in mind too: Juan Carlito Mendoza, Matt Halpern, Alex Rüdinger)
Jeeeeez,,, thankyou Luke-- please,, you have the up and down straight groove and Linear SO DowN and you have great Chops- I would love to see you move towards JAZZ- Please check out the super early Tony stuff with J. McClean - and of course ALL of RoY Haynes playing--just Beautiful Playing which you will eventually understand--
On the music sheet of the first one, there’s a kick missing. Right before the snare in the first half. Just thought you guys should know, awesome work by the way!!
The joking about handcuffing him to the chair is finny but many times i've made myself sit & stay at a practice pad or drumset to work on those basic rudiments that make everything flow much smoother.
48:37 couldnt agree more on that topic... i find myself pretty satisfied with my life and that is kinda holding me back from practicing sometimes... you always have to beat yourself up at least a little, to the point where you tell yourself "man i wanna prove them all wrong all these d*cks who f*cked me up in the past i will show you what i can do" its really helpful for gaining motivation
I wonder if Luke brings his DW pedal or just uses whatever’s around. Seems like no matter where he is there’s always an endless supply of DW gear on hand lol. Man he’s come so far from his first RU-vid vid days
Why is almost nobody talking about his drumming in the comments? He is a young outstanding drummer with incredible technique and sense for music. Great!!!
