Sri Krishna says to Arjuna that there is an element in the body that never gets destroyed. According to a sutra in Nyaya shastra, the quality of the seed is determined by the quality of the tree and the quality of the tree is determined by how good the quality of the seed is. Your pitra (ancestors) are inside you. You are made of the pitras. You are the seed of their tree. According to yogic viewpoint, when you are offering to the ancestors you are being grateful to them for your existence. The meaning of Shraadh is shradha (trust, faith, acceptance). When you accept yourself with shradha, you are offering it to the pitras.
Some part of your life should be dedicated to heal yourself. With Shraadh, you are purifying yourself. It is an acknowledgment that even though I am tied to my ego, my thoughts, my vikara and my karma, the truth is my existence is also due to somebody else. There is God but I am also born by the blood of my pitras.

There is a complete science behind rituals in sanatan dharam. Ignorant People of other faiths find it very easy to just manipulate it in eyes of their audience. Because it requires common sense to understand these. And they can't comprehend it.

Swami has just touched this subject in very balance and composed way. The science of death is nothing but science of birth as vice versa. Unfortunately 95% of Hindus have stopped performing proper death rituals. This is the root cause of loss of vanshvrudhi as well as children who in turn are not religious. This also leads to loss of good karma due to which departed soul is forced to select a life which is not to their belief

Listing the truth....I walked on road and it goes like : guilt....scared.... unhappy... contaminated...caged.... "something changed" brave....pure ... thankful and finally i m free ....I m done...
