Signs (2002) REACTION 

The creepy Brazil home footage of the alien leading into Mel Gibson investigating the pantry with the alien inside was a master stroke. Set that scene up beautifully for max tension.

Interesting factoid: The car accident/goodbye scene was the first scene shot in the making. Shooting just happened to be scheduled for September 12th, 2001. No one was prepared for September 11th. The following day, the cast and crew showed up to the location before they began shooting and held a candlelit vigil for the people killed the day before. M. Night Shymylan (I believe) recounted in an interview the emotion on set was genuine from not just the actors, but everyone. Here they are shooting an emotional scene of a husband bidding his wife one final and tragic goodbye the day after an indescribably horrible tragedy on American soil. That scene practically tells a story of many people who bade their loved ones a final tragic goodbye that Tuesday morning.

No coincidences. The water the asthma and his wifes death all happened for a reason. He got his faith back.

It really doesn't matter WHY Mel Gibson's character lost his faith, just that he had lost it. This is absolutely one of my favorite movies. I watch it every chance I get.

Signs and The Sixth Sense are the two masterpieces from Shyamalan.

24:30 and the award for the biggest jump-scare of the century goes to .....Mish!! And it came from Lia! But it only goes to show how utterly hooked into the movie Mish had become, by that stage. Gorgeous reaction, Homies.

One of my favorite little details is how the aliens speaking on the baby monitor only comes through clearly when they’re all physically touching, showing how they all have to be and work together to get through this

People talk about how fantastic the alley jumpscare was, but I personally love the part where he sees the leg in the cornfield. You don't get any loud music the instant he sees it like most jumpscares do. That's what makes it so great imo.

This movie, the slow raising tension, is pure horror! The party scene, Babyphone, Cornfield, the UFO Book, oh my god... The scene at the dinner table is also monstrously creepy. When the last spark of normality is gone and the father can no longer deny the coming madness. I love this movie soo much!

The alien definitely wasn’t trying to help Morgan. I do like that Vicki’s first instinct is to be positive though.

One theory I found very interesting and makes me appreciate this film more was that they theorized the Alien creatures were scared and desperate, desperate to find supplies for themselves as they may be dying, and notice how the Alien in the footage is not running up to the children aggressively, but rather crouched down as if to avoid being seen, I always found that very interesting. "you f****** little bastards" they didn't mean it, damn lol

The opening score is so damn creepy. The scene with the Mexican kids scared the SHIT out of me as a small boy, I had nightmares for months lol. Great film.

Made by the same director, M. Night Shyamalan (sp??), who also made "The Sixth Sense." Two films which will always be in my top ten of all time. Loved how focused you all were during this lol!

I loved each small detail of this movie, one of which is that the monitor only goes off fully when all of the family are touching

Something I recently learned about this movie is that when Mel Gibson’s character is telling the children their birth stories, those are real stories. M. Night Shyamalan wrote his own children’s birth stories into the script.

Surprised that no one mentioned that the title "Signs" are representing the crop circles but also that these events are signs from God to try to pull Mel Gibson's character back to faith

The aliens were definitely NOT there to help haha, they were harvesting humans. Very hostile. Also imagine what losing your soulmate would do to you, faith would be one of many things you would lose.

I really like this movie despite it being a little underrated, not action packed not that it's necessary, but scary in its own subtle way with a good suspenseful build up an ending.

Love M Night Shamalam movies! U also gotta watch Unbreakable, Spilt, Mr Glass,(in that order!) and Sixth Sense! The Village and a movie with Mark Wahlberg! Think about it...his wife's death , everything she told him, Bo's obsession with water, Merrill playing baseball, the boy's asthma, it was all part of God's plan, to save them!!

This movie traumatized me as a kid I was only 7 years old watching this and it messed me up for a good 3,4 years the first reveal at the party and the end scene with the tv reflection,I avoided watching it again untill I was around 15 years old cos it really had a bad effect on me nothing else has traumatized me like this movie did and my poor parents having to deal with me being scared of the dark and being alone not going to sleep as a byproduct of the fear this movie instilled in me as a little kid was very messed up

I feel bad that an alien civilization that has the technology to travel the stars and find planet earth did not know that earth is a) filled with water, b) most of the lifeforms have water in them, and c) has an atmosphere where every day a part of the planet either has snow or is raining (or you know, just has humidity in general). They should have sent a probe before to get more information. Still, this movie was terrifying and I am glad you got to see it.
