Common allergies children suffer from are to food substances such as peanuts, and even a very small trace of nut can cause someone to have an anaphylactic reaction. This will normally come on very quickly, however, sometimes it can take a few hours. If you suspect any anaphylactic reaction, you need to activate the EMS immediately. Signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis include:
- General symptoms, such as itchy, watery eyes, a headache, or a runny nose.
- Skin problems, such as a swelling of the face, lips, tongue, neck, or hands. Or an itching, hives, rashes, or generally red skin.
- Breathing problems, such as cough, difficulty swallowing, rapid breathing, difficulty in breathing, noisy breathing, a change in or loss of voice, a high pitched noise during inhalation, wheezing, or a sharp burning sensation in the chest and throat. Serious breathing problems are a sign that this person may be experiencing a severe allergic reaction.
- Heart or circulation problems, such as increased heart rate, decreased blood pressure, excessive sweating, or cool and clammy skin.
- Mental status problems, including confusion, agitation, hallucinations, fainting or a loss of consciousness.

ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-itNszcjxKKI.html - here is a more in depth explination and at minute 28 it talks about how not to confuse panic attacks with anaphylaxis. Basically in a panic attack, the blood pressure will be high, blood saturation normal. It's 52 minutes long but it will explain more about what happens in allergic reactions.

I had another one last night, starting to think it wasn’t a panic attack and it was a stroke.

I wish all the other types of symptoms of anaphylactic shock were taught more. I believe I've been having many anaphylactic reactions but no one was taking it seriously because my oxygen wasnt dropping and my throat doesn’t swell shut. Now my doctors starting to suspect MCAS and I just got my first child dose EpiPens to test and see if there is any improvement because I get so many of these symptoms of anaphylaxis I never realized were symptoms of it until I was learning more about MCAS. If this is actually anaphylactic shock, I have it happen almost monthly or multiple times a day.

ive just recently developed an allergy with peanuts and beer, but i didn’t realize that it could be anaphylactic. basically my symptoms start quick, within 10 mins, and always start out with an itchy tongue, itchy underarms, itchy ears, swelling hands, and a “sense” of increasing redness on the face/neck/back/underarms/groin etc and this increases to a point to where i have red skin and red welts all over including redness all over my face. however, i don’t recall experiencing wheezing/coughing/shortness of breathe. all i’ve done to treat it when it happens is take benedryl and then i go to sleep. should i go to the doctor and get epi pens or am i fine?
@evadawn5745

I'm just trying out EpiPens, got them today. I regularly have weezing, coughing, itching, slight swelling in my throat, rapid heart rate, cold sweats, headaches, chest pain, Tingling in my limbs, and sometimes rashes. I've always had this downplayed at ER's and I've had to do all my own research into and I've also heard that untreated anaphylaxis can cause organ damage. I'd talk to your doctor about it and see what they think.

With beer, idk what race you are but it is quite common for people who are Asian to develop allergies to alcohol. I have never drank beer so I wouldn’t know if I have any allergies to it but my mom and as well as my sister developed rashes when they drink. My brother on the other hand, doesn’t get rashes but his face gets really red. So for alcohol I would say don’t worry about it, but yes you should see your doctor for peanut allergy.

@@OBVIOUSLYEVELYN not asian, european descent. i get severe red welts when i drink alcohol and red patches of severe itchy skin, itchy ears inside the canals, tingly throat etc. same reaction with peanuts and with, strangely enough, cheesit crackers. all three of these allergies seemed to have come out of nowhere a few years ago - i used to be in a fraternity in college in 2013 and could drink endless amounts of beer, eat peanuts and eat cheesits just fine. not sure how this all suddenly developed

When bitten by an insect like a bee or wasp. My faces swelled up as well as my whole body. Is this also part of that?
@theemergencyfiles9669
@theemergencyfiles9669 2 года назад
Technically it’s not anaphylaxis unless your swelling is also associated with one of the following: trouble breathing, low blood pressure, or end-organ damage (for example, your kidneys shutting down). Hope this helps!

Everytime I take diclofenac sodium tab/inj I find it very difficult to even swallow water or my saliva. This last upto 24 hours or more. Is this Anaphylaxis?
@divyark5936
@divyark5936 3 года назад
Please take paracetamol instead of diclofenac, you seem to have an allergy to diclofenac, paracetamol is one of the safest alternatives, diclofenac on the other hand doesn't have a great report in regards to tolerance by the body, anaphylactic shock is caused by anaphylaxis (sudden allergic reaction) and shock here means that patient's blood pressure drops rapidly that will lead to organs not getting enough oxygen, which is especially bad for the brain besides being bad for heart and other organs, so anaphylactic shock is different from anaphylaxis and is a result of anaphylaxis, if someone is undergoing an anaphylactic shock they will soon faint because of hypotension or decreased blood pressure and then die within 15 minutes minimum if not treatment is given, what you are facing is an allergy not an anaphylactic shock but it can lead to a shock so ask your doctor and get an allergy or patch test done for diclofenac. Remember diclofenac is strong and dangerous, doctors mostly recommend paracetamol, you can ask your doctor, I'm sure he/she will tell the same.

That is not a normal reaction to a medication. You need to inform your doctor and have that information put on your medical records as an allergic reaction.

If pt has hives only should he offered epinephrine or antihistamine is enough?
@theemergencyfiles9669
@theemergencyfiles9669 2 года назад
If you just have hives, Benadryl should be enough. However if you have other symptoms such as trouble breathing or low blood pressure, you would also need epinephrine because that would take your symptoms from an allergic reaction to true anaphylaxis. Hope this helps!

I’m experiencing it right now I got to talk to my doctor tomorrow and I thought it was asthma but no one in my family has that that I know of and I got bleach on my skin and that’s when I had it this was Friday and all the symptoms that the guy saying is when I’m going through dizziness and or even the swelling in the throat and hard breathing and there’s no way that I have asthma because I drank bleach before in pools when I was a little kid and I’ve been around bleach so it has to be a reaction

@@divyark5936 no. It depends. Sometimes it happens fast and sometimes it takes a couple hours. Like the video said. I myself experienced both. One time I got bit by a fire ant and the allergy happened in a course of two hours until I got admitted to the hospital and got the shot. A second time (years later) As I was walking in a mall I came across a paint smell in the air and immediately on spot I experienced all previous symptoms same as from the ant bite, but this time it all happened in less than one second! But thankfully I stepped away from that smell and I went back to normal. So weird.
@ambilaevus7607
@ambilaevus7607 2 года назад
Because multiple variables can impact how fast it happens and how far it goes. Not every instance is fatal however there are steps to help avoid or diminish. For me, drinking not cold water, getyings my fingers and feet cold will trick my body out enough to either buy me time for medicine or make it finish enough to be bearable. Allergist is your best bet, for me seeking one specifically who is experienced with mast cell activation syndrome was best. Hope this helps you on your path to on finding answers and having a better quality of life.
