Do you mean the "watery" effect? Meaning it sounds kind of like water running over the surface of the speaker? It has to do with compression, and also the filters used to remove instruments. Were this the actual vocal track from the master recording multi-track, you wouldn't hear anything but a CLEAR vocal, and whatever reverb/echo effects, depending if those effects were initiated while recording the vocal or added afterwards. Something like this usually happens when the target bitrate (kbps) isn't retained when uploading, and this happens a LOT when uploading to RU-vid (and this is also one culprit that de-syncs the audio from the video portion, causing a big delay between what you see and hear). If the original file's audio is at 320kbps (for an mp3 file), but youtube only allows a max of 128kbps, obviously the sound quality will suffer, as well as the video portion. Whereas, if you only have a 64kbps mp3 file, but upload it at a rate of 128kbps, it sounds absolutely awful, as you're telling the compressor to add more detail where there is none. I've learned that the hard way in the past.
