I felt the same way when I first heard this song and found out about Sigur Ros! I went straight to Ebay... lol! This song is always great when they perform it live too :) I would love to see them live in person though. I hear it's an unforgetable experience.
I was listening to this yesterday in class. With yesterday being the last day of school, we were aloud to do what we wanted so I chose to listen to my ipod touch. I searched for new songs & this song was on my "Recommendations" list. When I clicked to listen I was not at all prepared for the effect it had on me. Within 10 seconds of listening to it, I bought it, put my head down with my arms hiding my face & silently cried while the rest of the class was watching Toy Story 3 on the smart board;)
People searching... searching... searching... TRUTH ! Do not even think that they lost another extra 40 minutes to listen to this divine masterpiece of global importance. How does it ALL , is negligible in front of , indeed Divine language: The language of music ! LANGUAGE OF TRUTH !!!!!
Of all the untitled Sigur ros songs, this one I like the most. The video you did fits perfect,it couldn't be better...I'd always imagined people dancing to this.
Sigur Ros is a groundbreaking musical outfit. I saw them at MoMA a few yrs ago and just about fainted from the pure beauty of their music. I can never get enough and thank the US movie industry for putting one of their songs on a popular soundtrack so they have the cash to continue creating their art.
The world without music would not have soul, we would like to represent the essence of love, which is the language of music is the music .. and is the soul of the world
my parents the movies ive seen the places ive been have led me here to this band i feel like im a better person for listening to them now im going to look for my lost english book
In the same vein as @vonrikety And should you ever find yourself waking up one morning, and realizing that even though the person you thought was the only one you would ever love is gone from you, and aches every day, and that you will never love this new person like you loved him, but maybe, just maybe, you will love this person, too, and learn to love again... This is the soundtrack to that moment in your life.
i had to mute this because a person's home movies are too personal and far removed from how i associate this song with my own feelings...maybe it's because of Vanilla Sky, but the inspiring dreamy sense i enjoy from the song gets wrenched out of my guts watching this
Songs like this almost give me hope that there may actually be a god...almost. I love this band so much. Life is good when I hear this song...thanks for posting this video, it fits.
Wow... the song matches perfectly with the video. I feel good just watching your vid. the scenery is really beautiful too, is that really Bosnia? what dance are your family doing in the vid?
@joshcaprai I think so! I feel like a lot of the tracks on this album are saying the same thing. it's like a continuing story. Also, Most of their music is sung in Hopelandic, if I'm correct. (:
@unbekannte5 I don't know. I don't speak the language at all but it sounds like someone who misses home and family. It that context memories shot with old film of family makes at least a little sense.
From the Sigur Ros website: what language does jónsi sing in? jónsi sang most songs in icelandic but a few of the songs were sung in 'hopelandic'. all of the vocals ( ) are however in hopelandic. hopelandic (vonlenska in icelandic) is the 'invented language' in which jónsi sings before lyrics are written to the vocals. It's rather a form of gibberish vocals that fits to the music and acts as another instrument.
it's just her personality. she is not a very reflective person. and she only likes things that make her feel 'happy'. but for me i get drawn to songs and films that make me think.
@GB4ManU7fan It's not even possible for us to reach the ends of our own galaxy, let alone the whole universe. So, the fact that we haven't found anything really doesn't say much about whether there is other life out there. But hey! The NASA mission to Europa, could prove the existence of other life in our solar system in just the next 20 years.
You missed out on a great movie. : ) Don't know why you were crying, but if it was because of an ending to one thing, remember that there's always the beginning of another.
@GB4ManU7fan Time isn't destroyed with every passing second... We see farther back in time as we look father out into the universe. That's why we can still observe the big bang. Time isn't linear and it doesn't just disappear. If you really loved science, you wouldn't post comments with no basis. And clearly you don't actually think science is a good way to explain "the universe god created," or you wouldn't be fruitlessly attempting to poke holes in it.
Yes that is Bosnia. It's a shame that this (ridiculous) war has took place there and destroyed the political, culturall and economic landscape of a beautiful country and region. Really, the people, the music, the nature, everything is special over there! The dance is called kolo btw.
@GB4ManU7fan Humans are not omniscient. All we know about our surrounding is based on our perception. Everything and anything we derive about the world, including its very existence, is based on that perception. If what we perceive is real or not doesn't matter, for we can only react based on it. Therefore, something that can't be perceived is wholly irrelevant. Therefore, God's existence, if it can not be perceived, is irrelevant. Therefore, for all intents and purposes, there is no God.
Not to be mean, but please dont bring up religion, and fyi the happiest people in the world are said to be from Denmark.... guess why? Cause they are a really unreligious country... Religion brings hatred and ignorance. All you have to do is look to all of the wars its caused, all of the injustice, all of the extremism and persecution... DONT taint this beautiful song with religion
@atan0k that is probably the stupidest thing i have ever heard. you dont have great enough perception to say that. you completely contradicted yourself. what you could have said, is that there is no way to prove whether or not there is a god. and that is the whole point of it. if you could prove there was a god, then we would be on this earth for a completely different reason than why we are. the fact that it cannot be proved either way, with science or any amount of thinking allows a choice
