Found this at a thrift shop, no idea what it was. The album is blank, the cd is unmarked and white. Played it and fell in love.

SAME...well, I love the band and I found Takk... and a completely blank CD. had no idea what it was and sadly forgot about it when I went to buy all the CDs I picked out. I went home and remembered it and tried finding what it was, but google didn't help. I found a Sigur Ros article for different reasons and magically found mention of this album infamously releasing completely blank. I was saddened that I missed out... plan on trying to find it again soon though

In 2003, my little brother overdosed on hydromorphone and died in his sleep with this album on. I listened to this album non-stop for like 3 years after that. Made them play it at his funeral. Got the little sleep walking boy tattooed on my arm. Saw them at Massey Hall in 2010 and got properly choked up. I've eased WAY back on this album, and Sigur Ros in general, in the last few years. I'm actually not sure when the last time was I listened to this album. My grandma died yesterday, and I can't tell if clicking play on this will be comforting, or just be too much. One thing though, whether I listen to it right now or not, I for damned sure need to have this and Ágætis Byrjun on vinyl if I'm expected to keep on keeping on in general

Saw them in Virginia a few years ago with a good friend. The entire audience was transfixed by the end. My friend and I found we were clutching each other - neither remembers moving in to do so. We drove home in silence, so moved we couldn't speak. Easily the most intense live music experience of my life.

Right now, there are people all over the world who are just like you. They're either lonely, they're missing somebody, they're depressed, they're hurt, they're scared from the past, they're having personal issues no one knows about, they have secrets you wouldn't believe. They wish, they dream and they hope. And right now, they are sitting there reading these words, and I'm writing this for you so you don't feel alone anymore. Always remember, don't be depressed about the past, don't worry about the future, and just focus on today. If today's not so great don't worry! Tomorrow's a new chance. If you are reading this, be sure to share this around to make others to feel better. Have a nice day. :)

This album is the reason why I travelled to Iceland soon after its release, burning through my pitiful savings as a teenager to make it happen. It spoke to me in a spiritual way, a calling, an urge that I simply could not deny. I'm grateful I did. I'll forever remember the time there when I saw Jónsi at a coffeeshop as I was sitting down, I didn't approach him but this was the only time I've ever been star-struck take into account I now work in the entertainment industry. Also, so many people have been thankful I've introduced them to this amazing band, including my psychiatrist at the time who snobbed all music besides classical. I've giving away my album to whomever I value, causing me to have purchased this one probably more than 10 times.

There are 4 songs I can only listen to once every 5-10 years. I play them during the most momentous moments in my life. In listening to these songs, I am larger than the solar system. I am smaller than a grain of sand. I am one with everything. I am released from my lifelong cage: a debilitating phobia of dying that has led to hypochondria and extreme worry about the future. These songs teach me how to let go of everything I am attached to. I am freed to confront agonizing thoughts, like the knowledge that one day I will die. I am at peace knowing we all die alone. I am at peace with oblivion. I wish I could hear these songs every day. But, to protect them, I built an insurmountable wall: I can only listen once every 5-10 years. Yes... the unfulfilled yearning causes me suffering for years and years. The sacrifice is worth it because these 4 songs... they are my treasure, the closest thing I have to magic. If I were to listen often, I'd become used to them, and their magic would be diminished. So I am vigilant, protecting the songs from my desires. E-Bow by Sigur Ros is one of these 4 songs.

When I was younger I definitely struggled to understand my place. I always had a deep chasm in myself that just would not go away. When I put this album on the chasm become something completely different. Out of this dark hole of pure confusion and sadness came a light of so many different colours. I can't explain exactly how it made me feel but it would just ease me. It helped me to understand that not everything is there to be understood. Sometimes, I still feel like I'm just trying to keep my head above water but unfortunately I seem to have stopped using music to help me heal slightly. Hearing this again takes me back to sitting in a dim room at my mums house whilst the world breathed in and out around me. Sucking me in and blowing me out. Sigur ros are fucking incredible man.

Taken directly from Wikipedia: "Jónsi sang the lyrics of ( ) entirely in "Vonlenska" ("Hopelandic"), a made-up "language" which consists of meaningless words and syllables. Jónsi uses Hopelandic in place of songs which do not yet have lyrics, although some tracks on Sigur Rós albums Von and Takk... are only sung in the language. Its names in English and Icelandic are derived from "Von" ("Hope" in English), the ninth track on the album Von, which is the first instance in which Hopelandic is used in the band's music.[8] The Hopelandic of ( ) consists of one eleven-syllable phrase, "You xylo. You xylo no fi lo. You so.", various permutations of which are sung over the course of the album.[7] ( ) is made up of material that Sigur Rós had been playing live for over two years.[1] For this reason, the band did not want to give the songs actual lyrics. Drummer Orri Páll Dýrason said of this, "[the songs] were fully formed and it would have been strange to suddenly insert lyrics into these finished products." For the people discussing lyrics below..as you can see there's apparently no actual lyrics written for the album. Quite amazing that it feels like I know exactly what Jonsi is saying though when listening to the music. That's how harmonious the vocals and instruments are in this album. I also love the fact that people can essentially come up with their own lyrics based off their perceptions of the music. Utterly amazing album.

I remember getting this album back shortly after it released (2003? 4?), after hearing a review on it. I played it as I drove from Chicago to Jasper National Park in Canada to meet my best friend from high school out backpacking. It was the perfect soundtrack for driving up north; I literally felt like I was nearing the end of the world the further north I got, and the music just felt so open, mysterious, and beautiful, much like the landscape. I still love to listen to it, it brings me back to that time and place.

my suggested videos are deftones, lamb of God, tool and system of a down. heavy rock is the shit, but sigur ros is as amazing as it gets.

I have never enjoyed an entire album from anybody in my life. Even my favorite groups and bands have never put out a 100% album. But this? I love every single second of this.

It's been 20 years since this untitled record came out. It's been 28 years since this band has been feeding us music from Heaven. They just can't produce anything that isn't celestial. Saw them twice in concert recently and they opened with this album and the first entry Vaka is like the doors to Valhalla. Touring Iceland also gives you the same vibes. Heaven on Earth.

+Chris Bateman That's what I love about this album. In the back of your mind, you know that the words he is singing aren't actually words and carry no meaning, but each time I listen to it Jonsi tells me something different depending on how I feel.

I know that it's just gibberish, the lines of the first song sound like English to me: You stay alone, to fight You sow the light You sow You suffer - alone You stay alone, to fight You sow the light Etc. It seems pretty fitting to me. Somber, but... hopeful.

***** I'm pretty sure quite a bit of it is Hopelandic, "Icelandic gibberish"
@Justinisawr
@Justinisawr 9 лет назад
***** The lyrics aren't correct, Jonsi uses Hopelandic for most songs and sometimes for songs that don't have lyrics yet

***** I think he or she meant that the English interpretation is "gibberish", as in a totally inaccurate translation

Untitled 8 was the first Sigur Ros song I ever heard, I actually heard it as part of the trailer for The Invasion. The film was pretty mediocre, but just the little bit of this song they used was enough to get me searching for this band, and I am glad I did.
