I work at Subaru and we're getting into basic helicopters and more military but nothing like this. We do more than just cars.

I think reliability will increase over time. If we didn’t embrace technical advances, we’d still be flying biplanes and wouldn’t be a major military power. I remember the Osprey had terrible teething problems initially, but now I don’t see the failures that it once had. I think we are experiencing reliability and repair difficulties with modern cars; plastic parts failing, complex systems that are expensive and time consuming to repair etc. but we are getting high powered, very capable, fuel efficient vehicles in exchange.

Nothing really past new aircraft growing pains, so long as things have been properly tested as well as with good design and observe quality manufacturing processes. You're always going new ills as you dispose of old, accept them as for the alternative A/C is obsolete.

That transmission will be a pain in the ass but everything else should be more straightforward. It runs on a single blackhawk engine after all.

Eh, all the cameraperson cares about is giving the producer 30 seconds of clean video for a news segment -- not shooting for YT.

@@navyrayne the only tech the russians had, that this helicopter possesses, in the 80s was the coaxial config. nothing else. almost every other technological aspect of this new aircraft is leaps and bounds ahead of any russian rotary wing aircraft.

@Rob as noted in the video the pusher prop can be disengaged with a clutch allowing to change between high speed cruising flight and low acoustic hovering / "low" speed flight also i don't doubt that the production variant of this aircraft (if put into production) would incorporate further emphasis on noise reduction technology. the demonstrators aren't the final product.

Three helicopters are being replaced. They are the Black Hawk, the Kiowa and the Apache. I believe this vehicle is trying to replace the Black Hawk.

This is the FARA competitor it is Bell Invictus vs Sikorsky S-97, the tilt rotor (Bell V280 Valor) is competing against the Sikorsky Defiant X for FLRAA. Just to be clear, because I see a lot of wrong information here, all of the army air fleet is looking to get upgraded by circa 2030 for their prototypes. That includes AH64(in attack and scout roles since the OH-58 is retired), UH64 Blackhawk, and the CH47 Chinook. They are even looking to get a large 4 engine tilt-rotor that is comparable to the C-130, I guess its their way of giving the finger to the USAF for cockblocking them for roughly 74 years now since the Key West Agreement.
