Can I ask, can you explain this to a curious or possibly naive Dub! It must be extremely difficult to make Agricultural contracting work. All that machinery must cost an absoloute fortune and apart from the tractors and the big thing working the pit, the rest is only used in the silage season. Is that right? And that season is pretty much (I believe) end of May to end of August or there abouts. So the harvester the trailers will lie in the shed or wherever for about 9 months of the year. I would also imagine that diesel prices have risen expedentially as well as labour prices. I have no doubt that contractors play a crucial part in the farming business but the costs and therefore viability must be a huge factor.
