Great result with the bales Karen. Having practically all of next winter's fodder already secured is a great relief. Enjoy your few drinks, you have something to celebrate.
A good bit of skill dropping those big bales off where they aren’t going to run away and smash something up. Mother Nature has given you some love congrats Karen and your Dad.
I really like the real time shots of the tractors running, I'd always like to see more of that than the sped up bits with music over it, personally. Plus grass work is one of my favorite activities to watch anyway.
I can try to do more of that. Usually the wind here ruins those kinda shots so you can't hear the machines but when it allows I put them in. We're just very high up here so it's always windy
At 15, I started work on a farm, and was told by a 85yr old farmer, something that he said I would never forget. If you can see the mountains, it's going to rain, if you can't see them, it's raining. He was right, I haven't forgotten it, 60yrs on.
Well done Karen, don't cut corners get another cut on one field anyway as you don't know what next winter or spring will bring and you can always sell any surplus if you want to..
Go for taking your 15 bales that will set you up for years that ya won’t be short and just use last year’s first and ya will never be under pressure then regardless of the spring
Cannt believe how fast everythings going it seems but it june its actualy late . Its dry whete i live . Utah usa .too dry . Hope the cutting and baling goes well .
WOW nice footage of Ireland in the sunshine 🌞and lovely to see some action, hope the analysis on the silage is good and nice situation needing just a few extra bales, but then if have spare grass maybe you could sell a few bales.
Good afternoon/evening Karen hope you and yours are doing good and healthy we just cut our hay fields 26 acres and 55round bails hope you can get you 120 bails!
💥Almost 20 Thousand Subscribers💥 WOOHOO Being that we are in a Leap Year Karen, seems like 5-7 days later in the cut compared to last year would be perfect and the final bale count of 103 was spot on! Very nice too that the weather played a positive role in the cutting as well! On a side note, the views of the countryside and lake were stunningly beautiful. An artist could produce a proper painting and I would gladly sit in a chair for some time and just stare at it too! I know the views are better in person, but I got a sense just from your video! Glad for you and your Dad and Rob and the rest of the Lads! Stay Safe and Keep Strutting and Smiling! Cheers From Across The Pond In COW-lumbus, Ohio MOO 👋
Hi Karen, just an idea, what do you think of getting a solar power electric fence. No battery needed, no mains power needed either. There is a company called Country Farm supplies who sell the solar power electric fence. It's just an idea. I taught I would pass this on. Keep up the great work. Brian.
Great video as always really enjoy bailing time. Knowing you have enough feed for the winter is always a relief. over 10 bales to an acre is an amazing crop. Well done
Karen, easy to see why you got 10/acre.....grass still wet. Would have paid you to ted out the grass. At least 3 bales/acre less. I used to do what you did,but soon caught on to tedding.....less bales to pay for, less to stack/handle,keep their shape better and at the end of the day the same grass is compacted into less bales. I think you will still need a decent 2nd cut. Contractor also driving too fast to properly roll a bale tight....they won't care you have 200 bales off 10 acre!! I had similar looking crop, also baled with a fusion 3,chopped..6 bales/acre. As you may now sense.....I detest soft bales!!!!😢😢😢
You need a small bit of moisture in the grass I think.... The cows scutter like mad and they won't thrive on very wet silage. I prefer to cut my silage with a drum mower or normal disc mower without conditioner and get it raked after 12 to 18 hours.
Great job, and well done, your dad not liking the dry bales, but i see your raking, so id definitely get your contractor to use the spreading vanes on his mower, theyll not dry out to much, grass will be perfect and a few less per acre means a few euros in your pocket
Hi Karen, Thank you for your kind wishes. The operation went well and I'm back home with the family now feeling great. I'm glad the stress is easing for you now the silage is safe. What a beuatiful landscape you have to live and work in. Wishing you a chilled weekend, Cheers. Poth.
Good on you Karen and your Dad. Perfect timing after a crazy spring. You're all set now and the second cut will put you over the mark. Enjoy your evening and weekend, you deserve to relax now.
Well done once again Karen and when i saw the first cut you did the growth was enourmos and it is time this went you way and now with better than expected bale numbers sit back put your feet up and thank the Lord for Blessing you and your Dad for all you combined hard work not jusytphysiacly but mental as well. By the looks you may even get another light cut later if needed and i did notce the thickness of the stems as well so the ground is responding to your constant fertilizing. Aussie Bob
Hello Karen i am a new subscriber i became sad to read about your dad for accident God bless him health your videos are awesome and very informative thank you
Well done Karen and Dad it will hopefully help over the winter season. Could you get dad to to buy a 2nd hand loader for your convenience??? It’d be a great asset to the MF 390. Good luck and take care.
