I love how Nell's talking like a record skipping until someone triggers the right question to pull her into the moment to say her speech in context. Just a great way for her to show how time is different there and she's not sure when she is.

It the scene with Luke blowing out his 2 year sobriety candle the creator talked about how he wanted to add the red room window in the back to imply the siblings never got out. But then he felt like it was too mean to end it like that so they changed it. Such an amazing show.

The picture in the back still has the (rough) shape of the Red Room window, Luke's cake is a very bright red, and (I've heard) the original cut kept panning out until a door closes in front of them. I think the change was for the better, but the threads of that implied ending are still very much there. GREAT show.

Nellie giving her siblings closure gets me every time, especially her reply to Shirley. "But you did. So many times." I love that sentiment so much, how that one time doesn't negate everything. (Even here Steve still manages to annoy me with his "I'm sorry *if* I didn't listen", though.)

16:54 What gets me is how absolutely calm Nelly was when she was saving all of her other siblings, but when she saved Luke, she looked terrified. Two reasons: 1) the twin thing: she's terrified because Luke is terrified; and 2) that's the only dream/nightmare where it was their Mom doing it. The others were Poppy, including Luke's first dream, but this last one wasn't Poppy's sick game, it was their Mom trying to complete her original goal of claiming Nelly and Luke; she finally succeeded with Nelly and Nelly knows firsthand how strong a pull their Mom has and how very close Luke is to death. It's just a really nice touch that Nelly was freaked out for only that one.

whatttttttttttttttttttttttttt, but he just worked on the fall of the house of usher, wtff
@Matthew-bx5yf
@Matthew-bx5yf 4 месяца назад
The reasons were pretty simple. He was offered a multi-project, multi-year deal from Amazon along with his longtime producer where he'd have complete creative control. He was also given Stephen King's blessing to produce a series on The Dark Tower. Amazon could afford the rights to all of these things and Netflix could or would not. He recently started his own production company (with his long time producer) and this deal secures the future of that company for nearly a decade. No bad blood, or anything, has been reported. Just business and an opportunity that he couldn't pass up.
@ira__s
@ira__s 4 месяца назад
@@Matthew-bx5yf Makes sense. Life is not always as dramatic as people make it out to be, sometimes people just move on or go different routes with different opportunities. There doesn't have to be any bad blood going on for things to happen.

What do you mean? Theo's girlfriend (possessed by Poppy) describes William walling himself up behind a wall and then trying to scratch his way out, and it sounded like rats. Midnight Mass. Midnight Mass. Midnight Mass. If you love this show, you'll love his other Netflix show Midnight Mass. He really gets this sort of gothic horror and Midnight Mass hits very close to home, where Flanagan is concerned. Hill House was adapted from one of the most influential American horror novels of all time but Midnight Mass was an original story that you can tell he had been working on for most of his adult life. In my opinion, it is just as good. And it features a lot of the cast of Hill House. Please check ot out. Then The Haunting of Bly Manor, which is another one of his shows, but this time draws from English gothic horror.
@matthewgreen6652

Great show, fantastic reaction. My personal interpretation is that while the house desires for people to pass away within its premises it itself cannot take a life, that decision can only be made by the respective person. It can definitely do some underhanded tactics to convince people to take their life, but the final decision cannot be made by the house. For example, it brainwashed the mom, but it was still her decision to jump off the staircase. It did some voodoo magic to get Neil on the other side of the staircase and the rope around her neck, not sure if it was illusions or brainwashing, but it was her own accidental slip that caused her to die. I think that is why when the house put the rat poison needle in Luke’s arm, it technically cheated,and whether it was divine intervention or some other supernatural rules, I think the next scene where Luke was in the cleaned up red room with young Neil and his mom he had to make the final decision to join them or not, essentially in death. that is why Luke somehow came back from being poison to death. I totally could be wrong in this interpretation. Love the reaction and amazing story. I would watch midnight mass next among all of Mike series (I would save house of usher for last).

For me, the house is not evil, at all. It just is. It needs people inside to feed her, but doesn't need to kill them, but once somebody die inside, they come back as a ghost, and the problem starts when the one who dies inside is evil. The house didn't want Nell to die, she wanted her to be happy, so she could stay in the house, so she brought back her husband, let her dance and everything. But the crazy lady was the problem, she brainswashed the mother who was already sensitive, she was the one who wanted the children to die to protect them. Not the house, the house was perfectly happy to let the Dursleys die of old age inside its walls.
