@@mikemccaine4229 yes,I do look I think The Silencers are brilliant, you think they're average, how boring would it be if everyone liked the same music? Can we just leave it at that
@@tabeccaletford408 More than happy to leave it at that but you're making it sound like im making an argument. Im not. I just wanted you to confirm that you really thought they were better than average. I even listened again.... I just don't see it. But you fill ya boots!!
Many years ago I was lucky enough to see them live at the Liquid Room, Edinburgh on a series of dates at the same venue, I was there each night, they were amazing every night.
Filter The Noise. Hello My English is not good enough to chat with you. Also I will be using a Google Translate. I am French. I'm 52 years old and I have a musical question that I want to ask a SCOTTISH. Considering my age, you will understand, I was rocked by new wave music at the end of the 70's and the beginning of the 80's and then by what I called English pop rock. And among this pop that has invaded the French radio waves, I have always kept a FLAWLESS love for Scottish bands. I will first mention SIMPLE MINDS which remains the most important group in my CD library (more than 25 albums) but other groups from Glascow and Scotland are precious to me: The SILENCERS, but also TEXAS, WET WET WET, COCTEAU TWINS, BIG COUNTRY, LLOYD COLE AND THE COMMOTIONS and more recently HONEYBLOOD. My question is simple: why is Scotland exporting SO MANY bands to the international scene?
I know this band because my uncle's vinyls somehow ended up in my parent's home around 1993-4 when I was a teenager. When I would say to my friends that one of my favorite bands was The Silencers they would stare at me with a poker face like I was talking in chinese. Still underrated fortunatelly my uncle used to have very good music taste ;)
This is a great song...does anyone remember the TV advert this was used in? I can't remember if it was for Tennents or McEwans Lager but it was about a guy leaving Scotland and as he's in his taxi driving to the airport, he passes all his favourite haunts (bars, clubs etc) and remembers all his nights out, his friends etc. The closing scene was the automatic door closing behind him at the airport with the reflection of a plane taking off in the glass. Brings back great memories of the 1980's.
Vu à la fin des années 80 à Nantes en 1ère partie de Simple Minds. Ils ont surchauffé la salle pendant 1 heure avant le concert de Simple Minds de 3 heures... 4 heures inoubliables !
this band had a fan club address in Rose Street, Edinburgh, posted letters, via post and tried to hand deliver. notice said, no long here. felt so disapointed. Where is this amazing band?

hate the fat 80s reverb snare sound ....almost renders this unlistenable to me & its big place in the mix ...but this was a crime of lots of 80s music ..still is - i know itrs nit picking but the song deseved a restrained drum sound ... but my god .....an awesome band with great songs .
