I'd hate for anyone to have to take this unit a part, but you've done a fantastic job of laying out how to do so step by step. Great tutorial!

I used to take them apart also. Then I bought a bib kit and a Porta blaster and the rest is history. No better way to clean a mini split than with a Porta blaster. Check them out. Keep up the good work big guy

I am glad you are making this video. One of my Ac units is making that kind of noise and I was thinking about taking it a part to see what could be causing it. I also wanted to point out that at minute 7:58 the plug is hard to remove because the red plastic piece Holds it down and it can be remove using a flat head screw driver prior pulling the plug otherwise there is a risk of ripping the connector off.

Make sure you inspect the rubber isolator on the motor receiving end of that fan wheel. It rips apart itself,due to high torque on startup.

Hi! I manage some short term rental units in SoCal and have been learning to do alot of basic maintenance for our mini splits over the years. So I really love your channel and how valuable your content is for DIYers! I had one question for ya. In our rentals we ideally would want our units to stay comfortable and cool at all times for when guests arrive. this would also prevent guests from fiddling with the temperature controls too much. Do you think keeping the AC mini splits on 24/7 at a setting of say 68-70 (on auto) would be better than having them to "conserve energy" and only turning them on when it gets hot? Common sense tells me "yes, turn it off when ur not using it to save energy" but after thinking about it, would keeping it on lesson the wear and tear, and perhaps energy if the machine has to work less hard to maintain 68-70, rather than cooling down a 80+ degree space everyday over and over again?

Thanks for the detailed instructions. I think taking the unit apart 7 feet up becomes a greater challenge. I have an EG4 system just like you used. What you did not explain is how to clean those fan blades on a periodic basis. Is the complete disassembly required or can I get compressed air in there somehow and blow it clean?
@TaddyDigest

So in the video I did explain that there was a link that I would put for you to check out on how I maintenance, my mini splits in what I use. I'm pretty sure I'll put that link in the description.Go check it out.Let me know if you have any questions

Thanks Taddy, nice video. It came at a good time since I plan on getting an EG4 mini split soon. I also have found out that it’s difficult to find an HVAC professional in my area who wants to service a mini split. So I need to find out as much as I can about it so I can address any issues myself. Here’s an idea for another topic on the EG4 mini split. Since the EG4’s are being sold with the precharged line sets, what’s the best practice to use when needing to service the indoor air handler or maybe even move it to a different location? Is the regular pump down method used which stores the refrigerant in the outside condenser? Assuming the same line set is being used, it’s now not precharged with refrigerant and would need to use a vacuum pump to remove the air, moisture, and any contaminates before the refrigerant is released back into the lines from the condenser? Always great watching your content, keep up the good work 😊
@TaddyDigest
@TaddyDigest Месяц назад
Yes, pump down would be needed and you would pump the. Refrigerant down into the condenser by closing the liquid service valve first, and then the suction service valve when the pressure gauge reads zero

Let me tell you, as a service technician servicing these ductless units is a NIGHTMARE. Sometimes you don't have access on the top to easily remove the cover. If you are working for a company that pushes services on you, you only need one such call to throw your schedule way off!!!
