"You know, there's a million fine-looking woman in the world dude. But they don't bring you lasagna to work. Most of 'em just cheat on ya." my favorite one out of the whole collection.
I'm a woman and my bf and I dressed up and Jay and Silent Bob for Halloween last year (I was bob) and I created a meme that said "you know there's a million fine looking women in the world dude, but they don't all dress up like Silent Bob for Halloween. Most of them just cheat on you". Was a huge hit
Dude, i literally chased an amy of my own back in the day. And like our good pals, Silent Bob and Holden, i was in the EXACT situation. I fell in mutual love with an older girl (four years my senior) who resisted my advances until i finally cracked that thick armor of hers (no sexual pun intended) but she had a past that my insecurities as a Catholic raised boy who only had sex with one girl and lost his virginty at 18. I was too stupid to realize that she didn't care that i wasn't "on her level" or "lacked experience". This movie bonded me to Kevin for life, and i saw him as a man i wanted to be friends with. Not because he was famous and a filmmaker, but because I KNEW him...........so to speak.
@@Osrsinvictus Jason mewes was actually on dope so he would commonly get sugar cravings due to him being on hard drugs. It’s sad but he’s recovered and is doing pretty well
Jay and silent Bob had a really interesting relationship in hindsight, they actively just say the worst things to each other but still have a great friendship
Ive modelled alot of my high school social life after Silent Bob. Hung out with a loudmouth and basically said nothing. And I loved when I did say something, it always made people actually listen to me. Ive since learned to talk, but in social gatherings, I like to keep my mouth shut and just take in
It's funny when you thing of it: Kevin Smith likes to talks a lot! I mean really a lot! So the character he plays is always silent. Similar thing with George Carlin playing a catholic cardinal in Dogma.
@The ill will no we did not evolve to be bothered by those things. We have been conditioned by religion and society to consider those things taboo. HUGE difference between the two
Ming That's not true because the lesbian girl told Ben Affleck in the movie about her friend having sex with a dead guy in the Quick Stop bathroom and that happened in Clerks.
Jeffrey William Ming’s saying the chasing Amy backstory happened before clerks not the movie itself. I mean it’s entirely possible that silent bob went silent after the events of the chasing any story.
He did!!! I just finished the movie like 2 minuets ago hehe. Basically Rufus was telling Jay if he stopped having such a bad mouth he’d put in a good word with Jesus and Bob said thanks instead of Jay
He said "She didn't feel like she had anything to be sorry for" I thought too myself "She doesn't feel bad that she hurt you by betraying your trust?" Even if you wanted a normal relationship with her it would not be the same. In the words of Dane Cook "Let's just stick this out for another seven years and end this thing violently" lol
I feel like the silent in silent bob is because most things don’t matter and need to be described all the time, he literally only speaks when it’s something important to him or something of the sort where he has to speak out. Why waste words on something that’s gonna be forgotten, speak the truth and speak what’s important.
He also talks at the end of Dogma when Chris Rock says "if you clean up your language, I just might put in a good word for you." Silent Bob says "thanks."
You missed a couple Silent Bob lines: 1. In the end of 'Dogma,' when Rufus tells him and Jay that he'll put in a good word for the two of them to get into Heaven if they clean up their language a bit, Silent Bob responds "Thanks." 2. In the beginning of 'Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,' when the boy trying to buy a nickel- bag off of them talks about "That movie with Prince in it," Silent Bob clarifies it by saying "Purple Rain."
And if you're being dishonest? (Sorry... just REALLY hate people using that phrase, "if I'm being honest." Basically saying, "hey... I'm not usually an honest person.")
I was blown away by him trusting the Silent Bob actor to go from never saying anything to this long poignant line until I learned that was Kevin Smith the whole time. Still a great monologue.
I loved the "thats your que man" with a little smirk as he leaned back. I think Jay definitely recognizes and reapects Bobs intelligence despite the ahot he talks.
Kevin Smith is an absolutely amazing writer when he has something to write. I still don't know of another writer/director that has pulled off so much of the shit he has. I was absolutely fucking livid during Chasing Amy....for the same reason as the character. I don't know why either, I fell into that movie way to much. I've never had a relationship like that either so it wasn't something I related to. Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes existing pleases me. The fact that Jay is directly based off of young Jason is fucking beautiful. I actually want to see Steve O on Jason and Kevins podcast. For Steve and Jason, not even for me, though I would like to see it. They have a lot in common.
I can see that they might have a reference on occasion, but really it's a typical pairing of the outgoing doer and the silent-yet-far-more-intelligent-than-they-let-on types.
This proves anyone can be a great actor so long as they're saying something they believe is true. Smith has Brando vibes here. I guess the trick to a career in acting is being able to kid yourself that every line the writer gives you is not complete bullshit. Actors are people paid by producers to convince themselves of a writer's narrow worldview.
you skipped something he said in dogma. in the end after god shows up the angel said there may be space in heaven for jay if he cleans up his language and silent bob said got it. i paraphrased a bit the whole reason i came to this video was to figure out what was said exactly.
