That video you did here in Perth was the video series that got me watching your content. I’m enjoying seeing you do this stuff out of your back shed more than anything. Great to see how someone who does what you do day to day, come home and modify your skills to use a compromised setup. All the ideas and solutions are real ones and seem to work ok. Thanks for taking the time to share all of it.

I concluded that moisture traps are best placed 4-5 meters away from the compressor. When the air is cold, moisture separates much easier. Excellent results are also achieved with lower quality moisture traps.

Thank you, Gunman! I was one of the people who asked you for a video of your compressor setup. Only saw it now, months later but appreciate you shot the video. It was helpful. I also didn't realise till this moment that you had returned to Melbourne. Good luck there! :-)

I installed a secondary air accumulator on the wall - it's basically just a Stainless-Steel bottle to help keep air volume and also collect water. I then added an electric purge valve on the bottom that just plugs into any power outlet. You can adjust how often and long it goes on. You could put something like this in the shop wall someday, I love it.

I think the bottleneck for the flow is the tiny regulator that is fitted to the compressor. I would take it off and just use the retrofitted regulator.

Yewwww great to see a review on this beauty - I've owned this exact one for a couple of years and she's been absolutely brilliant 💖 I leave it on every day and it gives reliable dry shop air. Only annoying thing is the location of the tank drain valve - it's not on the actual bottom of the tank and so draining properly requires some angling of the unit while draining.

Hi Gunny, the air regulator needs to be in your garage closer to the spraygun so it takes the moisture out of the airline from the compressor right up to the gun,an air fed mask usually requires at least 5cfm free air so ideally the compressor would need to a minimum 2hp or bigger just for the mask, I have a 3 hp single phase compressor with a 200 litre tank which produces 14 cfm but reduces down to 9.5 cfm free air output so will just about keep up with my pro lites with either a 110 or te 10 air cap ,enjoying the videos mate,have a good day.

I've got the hush70, was the same price at the time as the hush100 but the 70 puts out a higher cfm (according to the specifications online). With my dv1 HVLP and my gti I can hold 2bar throughout my whole paint job! I just use a small inline moisture filter attached beneath my reg on my gun and I get nice dry consistent air. The thing is so bloody quiet too!

This is what I wanted to hear thank you. I can't decide between the HUSH100 or HUS70 as they are the same price. I probably won't paint an entire car in one go and break it up in panels so thinking the HUSH70 may be fine. Only thing is on the website the HUSH70 is 81db and the HUSH100 is 70db. I want it as quiet as possible

For your European viewers, Pacini makes this same campressor (100l) its rated at 71db and it costs €600 - €700, it will run off 13a socket. There are several other manufacturers with this same model. I think they are all Hyundai clones who also make several sizes and versions of this model. PS. Love the veggie garden.

@Curto304 2 года назад
Think you’ll find you will get better pressure upgrading the sizes after the regulator on the compressor. 1/4” is pretty restrictive. If you got it all up to 3/8” would make it a bit better. Alternatively if you have an old busted compressor hook that tank in for extra storage.

When looking at filters go to someone like ultra max and buy you pre, after and activated carbon filters seperate rather then buying a devilbiss 3 stage, as they do the same job but at half the price and replacement filters are cheaper. We install heaps of them in booths.

Hey Gunny hope you are enjoying your new house, been waiting for your compressor review and was amazed at how quiet it is for a 3hp unit, I was looking at the specs of the silent ones available here and they are 16cfm which is quite good. I have a 3hp 14cfm compressor but it's very noisy plus it needs oil so it's an extra thing to filter out. I use a dropout filter before my 3 stage and have to say that the dropout is really good as I hardly get any oil or moisture going though to my 3 stage which makes the filters last longer. My compressor isn't that reliable so when it gives up again I'll be looking to get the same type as yours, thanks for doing this review Gunny 👏🙏👍 John UK.

Think you need to run a bigger air line from the tank to your shed. Maybe 3/4 Polly pipe that way your hvlp gun won't drop pressure as bad at the gun. Run the 3/4 straight out off the compressor tank and have all your regs and filters in your garage that way you can keep an eye on them and they won't act as a restriction either.
@TiRider66
@TiRider66 2 года назад
First off, I've watched probably most of your videos and they have definitely made me a better painter. You not being able to get 2 bar (at the 45 second mark of video), has nothing to do with the "compressor" portion of your system. This is due to the multiple quick connects, filters, and feed line. The gun doesn't care how the air is pressurized, the only factor is the tank pressure. Do a test straight out of the tank regulator and you will see.

Hey mate I work for Sydney Tools & on that Hush100 if you unscrew the black cap (1 screw) where the main on off lever is (red bar), have a look under the cap. Theres a sticker which indicates your cut in & cut out pressure setting adjustment. There's a black plastic screw & a steel screw. I don't want to over complicate things but you will be way better off running at least 5/8 pipe from the compressor and use traps to stop moisture and drain valves in the line the main reason for moisture is the air gets hot due to not enough flow +few more reasons as well and cools down and condenses buy running hard lines from the compressor it gives the air time to cool down a bit before the reg & flexible hose

They should be fine as long as your compressor can provide enough air. Like I demonstrated in this video, they require lots of air to get enough pressure. My compressor want enough to get any more than 20 psi but it could get 45 psi out of the LVLP

Unless you have 3phase compressor of industrial quality, you're gonna need to use LVLP to get enough air out the gun - most (even the really good ones) single phase compressors will be flat to the mat even supplying an LVLP gun with sufficient air. If you go HVLP, they just won't keep up at all - the output CFM's will be waay too low, no matter what they tell you it puts out "in theory".

I wouldn't say that I have something that flows about what this does but 3/4inch hard line from the compressor to my wall mount regulator in the booth. Smallest part is I had to reduce to 1/2inch for the regulator then a flexzila 3/8 hose to the gun with hf fittings and iv never had an issue. I can run my hvlps at 45psi continually but the compressor gets hotter than I'd like after 5min. It runs my SATA phaser at 36psi all day for all overs and it runs my da sander np too. Only time I see my regulator pressure drop is when I blow the booth out. I see it dip down to 50psi from 75psi. Biggest thing I see ppl mess up is the line size in air systems. I recently upgraded to a 26gal compressor that's a bit bigger but still running on home power it doesn't care with the same air system. I strongly recommend 3/4 as far as you can and straight out the tank regulators are restrictions. I have turned my compressor cut off down to 120psi from 155psi to keep things safer. And I also recommend adding a transmission cooler out the compressor into the tank with a moisture trap this keeps 99% of the water out of the system to begin with. I'd say I get about two cars sanded and painted booth cleaned before I drain the one in the booth and at most I get a slight mist at first. When I drain the tank I get the same a slight mist at first. But make sure you use something that's not restrictive at flow. Here in the us I get mine from jeggs it's a 3/4in in that runs across it and like a rad flows across then has another 3/4 tube down the out of all the fins. Youl see ppl using ac condensers with tiny 1/4line and a hundred or so 180° bends that's a bad idea for flow. Iv got about $400 in my system minus the new compressor although I got away with the same one he has in the vid with similar results just the duty cycle was higher than I liked and in NC with high humidity and 100°f days I knew it wouldn't make it the year. Did 3 paintjobs and didn't pay myself just put it towards the 26gal three cylinder compressor now I'm rocking and rolling.

Any compressor claiming to be oil free has me cringe a bit as motors wear out faster as an oil free system. The little units with direct drive oil-lubed compressor motors I have aren't overly noisy but can serve a longer life than any oil free design. They aren't huge by any means but I found a derelict air tank in relatively good shape that I use with both compressors to gain an advantage in capacity.

Hey, I'm new to compressors and spray guns. I need to spray my car roof, bonnet and boot, no blending needed so the roof (honda civic) is the biggest single area that needs uninterrupted air from the compressor. I'm okay to wait for recharge times for the other panels. Because the compressor may not even get used 10 times in 10 years, I'm trying to keep the costs as low as possible ..whilst as quiet as possible :) I'm trying to understand how important compressor litres per minute is compared to storage tank volume for spraying with an LVLP gun. Would say a 2.5 HP 135 litre/min 40 litre tank compressor with an added 75 litre auxillary tank making a combined 115 litres of storage with only a 135 litres per minute duty cycle, give enough air delivery to spray the car roof without running out of pressure? Simplified: Does storage volume extend spray duration by a significant amount? ..or is it all in the compressors recovery abilities?

You spent a fortune on guns and you buy a compressor thats fad is 289 lpm and then buy a regulator from bunnings you should be using a compressor with at least 450 to 500lpm smh
