I bought this pump and put a six valve manifold for it to run air to three tanks (air stone and sponge filter in each). It’s dead silent! Plenty of air! And low power usage! I am very satisfied with this pump. Going on a one year anniversary with it and went back on the website to buy a second one for a tank in another room (I’m sure it could handle 2 more outlets). I did buy from his website as I feel it’s only fair to buy from where sellers put the effort to make these videos. I also bought two hydraaquatic ultra clear tanks.
Hi I was just wondering on parts rebuild kits if they are available if out of warranty repair is needed . I was just thinking of maybe buying one. But before I do . I would like to know on parts availability. Before buying . Thanks .
Yes noises are different sometimes and read the meter. Some just drive you crazy like fingers on a chalk board even though they technically have the same decibal reading.
Not to be yet another negative comment but its a new pump. I want to see how loud it is in a year and if its still as quiet id be interested. Even the tetra whisper pumps are pretty quiet brand new.
My original test unit is 3 years old. It is the model that I have in the living room where we watch TV. I mentioned it in the video. I know a long term test is important when possible and that is why I did just that. Note, some air pumps even if they are a high quality build like the Silent Giant will change as the diaphragms weaken. This is normal and the diaphragms can be replaced. I have not had not had to do that with my home Silent Giant.
I did have a diaphragm that needed replaced on one of my 3 pumps at home. It seemed a little louder. It was quite just after the replacement. The only reason I noticed was I have another one running in the same room;)
Finally a good video, Im in the UK, i have a 180 ltr / 40 gallon tank and my old pump has died. Tetra 100. Like most im trying to find a very quiet efficient air pump.
I still have all of mine at home running fine and have not has to do anything. They are selling well but are only allowed to be sold at select dealers. Is that what you are asking?
Why the hell would you not lay the damn bubble rod flat so we could see the curtain of air coming off of it I mean seriously who stands up like that While trying to sell a pump
Our family's 1st one was a tapered cylindrical tower🌊, gotta see other reviews as this was to hit and miss, disconnected comparisons, re-surfacing upright air bubbles, air bubbles included in the db reader
This video was like going to buy a car, and the salesperson talking at long lengths about the color of the car. The color is kind of irrelevant. I want specs, I want to know what this thing can do. Air pumps are going to be loud it's a given, if this one is not thats a bonus. But try telling us about its intended function.
I mention watts, liters per hour of air and noise in db. Noise is a major concern with me and most people I speak with on air pumps. Noise is a major issue with people regarding both air and water pumps in home aquariums. My video was designed to show and compare this visually and audibly. That is not true. I owned 2 air pumps that were quiet. A Rena pump and a another from Walmart that I no longer have. Alas, I can no longer find another of them. Nevertheless, quiet pumps are possible, just hard to come by.
Chi Cheung I have had the Rena. It is not as quiet as this pump. This pump is double walled. Something new. The only Pump I have tested close is Oase. That being said, it is all about the level of vibration that is ok to you. I am sure not everyone cares as much about noise as others. I now have 3 of these in my home and I love them.
The unit in my living room I mention in the video has a check valve, sits on the floor and powers an air wand in my 200 gallon aquarium. Still going strong and quiet year 2.
@aquamanknox ahh ok,guess i wasn't paying attention,my apologies.Im new to fish keeping and im starting with cichlids (just 4) and i went cheap on the air pump an some air stone that keeps wsntong to float and pushes out very little air and i want to upgrade to something more powerful.
When you dial it down it is even quieter. On smaller tanks or in different applications there is no need to run it wide open. It depends on the effect and what device you are powering with the pump.
2.5 LPM per outlet. There are two outlets. More than enough flow to run a very long airstone in my 200 gallon cichlid aquarium. You will love this pump. I have 3 of them now in my home
That in no way is cheating as it was done with all the pumps. It just helps increase pressure and flow to one outlet. Many pumps come with the T to do just that.
I agree, my barking fish can usually drown out a loud ass topfin. The original 70's era silent giant's internal pumps were encased in sand making them dead silent.
