I mean...James is clearly not sane, if it was Harry, Heather, and Henry in this scene with Eddie, they would concerned and terrified. They would clearly judge Eddie which will result in Eddie trying to them.
@@nemesisa-type6721 Exactly, James may look and behave normal on the outside, but inside he is not fine. There are hints in the game giving you how James responds to the situation in a weird way.
@@kevinfuentes3669 Question is, if Harry, Heather, or Henry were in this scene instead of James. Would they just straight up kill Eddie? Or would they try and talk their way out of it? James is a unique case since he's very similar to Eddie. So I feel the only reason Eddie didn't go berserk here was because of James specific reaction to finding out he's a murderer. Instead of being rightfully horrified, he instead tried to be calm and rational with Eddie.
@@beans3977 If they have no choice but to defend themselves, then yeah, they will Kill Eddie, if Eddie went berserk in that moment. Now, with James, his situation is weird. James is so detached from himself and he goes with the follow and rationalize in every circumstance in an odd way, like when he told Angela, It's okay I don't care if the town is dangerous, I'm going either way. Or I'm putting my hand in the toilet for a wallet. Or Jumping into an abyss, whether he can't see the ground. Or having a casual conversation when they are in danger. The reason I think Eddie didn't go berserk is because James didn't react how a normal person would. And yes you can argue that James is trying to rationalize with to get away, but no, he rationalizes to Eddie that murder is wrong. Plus, he just told Eddie "Eddie, have you gone nuts?" and I am like 'Yeah, say that to a person who has anger killing tendencies with a gun." We players all know that James is not right in the head and he's not self aware of what he's doing.
He was channeling his inner Eustace Bagge with that one 🤣 but seriously, despite how funny it sounds, there is something incredibly unsettling in how he switches tones on a whim. The actor did a very good job
The background music in this scene plus the way the flashlight looks around and finally finds Eddie in the darkness makes me STRONGLY believe this scene was copied from Full Metal Jacket when joker finds private Pyle in the head the night he finally snapped and killed himself.
I think I read somewhere that scene was indeed one of the influences for Eddie: the team referenced almost every famous horror writer/movie/artist imaginable at some point. And though its maybe a coincidence, I always thought Eddie's backward cap was a reference to the columbine shooters (if you've seen those images), which absolutely must have influenced Eddie's character- along with Pyle, another instance of a person bullied into nihilism and murder
Re-watching this now having just gotten past this bit in the remake, I have to say I like remake Eddie more except for ONE bit. That "..yeah" at the end. The delivery on it in the original is.. there's something about it that makes it creepier. Like he's excited to do it. Like he knows there will be killing and he's all for it at this point.
@@BlueBlur2003 No. He killed a dog and wounded the dog owner in the knee, then fled to Silent Hill. He looks like a average guy in the OG, in Remake he looks flat out serial killer. Way over the top.
@@Xhanatos bruh do you guys complain about everything? If the OG design looked like the remake, you would be praising it. His new design is still very much similar to the original but it's changed to match his new dialogue which is so fitting. He's supposed to be insane. 😭 It's called a remake for a reason. I understand if you like the OG for nostalgic reasons but objectively Eddie's line deliveries are much better in the remake. Eddie in the OG literally feels like he's reading off the script as with the other characters. But that's okay because it complimented the tone and atmosphere of the game, so does the remake but it's much more realistic. You can appreciate both versions you know. 💀
@@BlueBlur2003 the remake is not better, it’s far too bloated and so many levels go on for far too long and they did that so they could justify the $70. The pacing is so off, plus so many of the cutscenes and acting is just not better. The only thing the remake has over the original is the boss fights and I ain’t spending $70 just have better boss fights and nothing else
@@JellyJman you're literally admitting you haven't even played the remake by saying you're not spending the money on it wtf. Just tell me you're trolling 😭 Eddie was much more insane and scary in the remake and nobody in the original talks like that irl, get real bro.
@@JellyJman that's true but don't go saying the levels go on for far too long when you literally haven't played it tf. The levels are actually amazing and so are the puzzles if you actually gave it a chance. That's just not true that it drags. Also the voice acting is much more realistic and amazing. The only person I prefer from the original game is Maria probably but still, Maria ain't even bad in the remake.
This scene is more disturbing than in the remake, because they all sound awkwaed and insane. Esp when eddie said "what do you mean just for that" The transition to different emotions really scares.
@@Panos_2000 it is better, why wouldn’t it be? that’s the point of remakes they make improvements and take it to new heights with modern technology. You just think it’s not cause you have sentimental attachment to the original. If you take a people who never played silent hill and showed him both clips, they would agree the remake is better.
Theres a video that beautifully breaks this scene down. I never realized it but eddie was always in a vulnerable position when james was around (back turned, never looking james in the eyes) But here eddie went full blown crazy, never breaking eye contact and even scaring james in the process. Really great details and story telling.
for me i prefer this one because they both sounded insane in this esp Eddie seems to be psycho in this one and James comforting him in this situation is just so Bizaare.
@@rukakuu_onedaybloodborne_PCBro i swear this people think generic a flat voice acting is good, the remake voice acting is SO trash i can't handle it.
