It's not about negativity dude, it's about caring about something so much that you don't want just anyone to get the honor of remaking something that is universally praised as one of the best horror experiences ever, especially in current times, where ESG/DEI and other creativity-destroying departments are so prevalent. If something becomes creatively good in the West these days, it's despite the interfering bullies in said departments, and not thanks of them.

To be fair they haven’t released a decent/good game since the original observer & layers of fear. (Blair witch was decent) And this is the first game they have done with combat and boss fights. Not just a scary walking simulator game. But they blew this remake out of the water

Real Silent Hill fans won't embrace this because we see that the narrative has been chopped up and repurposed. Bloober team doesn't seem to understand subtlety when it comes to storytelling. Angela sounds perfectly well, Eddie sounds more like a cartoon character than he ever did, There's no distinction between Maria and Mary in the jail scene despite the fact that that is a crucial moment where they should be sounding vastly different to juxtaposed their character

@@Antnj81 What is a "real" Silent Hill fan is only your subjective opinion mate. I didn't put labels, you did. I just said I was an OG fan from back in the day and obviously like what the devs have done with the remake (along with the majority of the reviewers out there). It's one thing to not be comfortable with a favourite game of yours being remade and potentially ruined and another thing entirely to not admit you were wrong. What you said, to me at least, are nitpicks and actually the devs worked hard to give us a remake as faithful as possible, only changing a few things that the OG devs already had in mind from the beginning but couldn't put in the game, or convey to us, from a technical stand point. In the end, no one forces anyone to buy this game and the devs have been so kind with their fans in how they treat and listen to them, but for some odd reason a small minority hates the game blindly and are very vocal about it!

@@Opalescape I've watched all cutscenes and especially Maria who sounds bored and wooden in all her scenes the game is now more action and more darker youd have to put the brightness up, and overreliance on remakes stifles creativity within the industry and prevents original storytelling from flourishing the more you remake older games the more older games that are beloved become obsolete there's nothing good about this practice it's lazy and shows that these devs just want to get their hands on other people's work of art and redo it all.

Companies made remakes that nobody wanted or asked for, but I think Silent Hill is a special case. I am unable to play the game myself because I lack the necessary console to play it, so I’ve been watching RU-vidrs play Silent Hill 2, and i am *thoroughly* impressed with how the game plays. Even the player will comment that the combat feels a bit smoother-that is to say, less clunkier than its predecessor, because I think we can all agree that OG SH2 did have a horrific combat system. Some may argue that it’s fitting, because it makes James feel like an average Joe with a gun, but I can argue that it feels the same in the remake. He’s still your average Joe convenience store clerk, but when he is around monsters you can hear his breath hitch in fear and the gun sways (maybe he’s shaking so much). I do enjoy the bit of nuances added to the gameplay. It doesn’t feel that much more combat-y, but I have heard you find a bit more ammo in the remake. From what I can tell, old fans who love the OG game, they don’t mind the extra ammo. I don’t think the company behind the game “missed the point”. They gave it a makeover, sure. The game stays true to the source material. It feels like the company really wanted to bring SH2 back to life and they did a banger job of it. I haven’t finished watching the play through yet, I may sing a different tune if I remember to come back here and give my two-cents, but so far I am enjoying just watching, and that’s saying something. I really wish I could play. And frankly, I REALLY love the voice acting. It feels more believable. And Angela’s story is… soul crushing. Edit: Sorry for the mistakes in my post, it’s hard to type on Mobile. I read back, and its so awful! I hope you can understand what I’m trying to get across 😂

Capcom said, with the limitations of the original Playstation, here is survival horror. Masahiro Ito said in response, I see your horror action game and raise you interactive Psychological Horror. Silent Hill 1 was about the horror to rival and beat Resident Evil. Silent Hill 2 was supposed to be a mashup of Hitchcock and Lynch where Horror was the setting but everything that filled that world (Narrative, sound design, soundtrack, gameplay, setting, the characters, mechanics, landscape, interactivity, puzzles, enemies and an unprovoked multi ending story all came together and said "HERE IS A POEM. FUCK YOU CANNOT BE REPLICATED AND CANNOT BE IMITATED SINCE." There are a lot of people my age looking forward to re-reading this poem. The same people or same amount of people don't want to because in gaming Silent Hill 2 stands alone as the PERFECT get-together of everything that makes an immersive experience. I have pre-ordered it and are looking forward to accompanying James on his Journey I equally don't want to. Because no matter how perfect Bloober had done, it will never be 2001 again. And believe me, although not played this yet I already have my gripes. Yet I still will play

But in James' experience there exists Angela, Laura and Eddie. Meaning, James isn't the only one going through his own personal Hell in the story of Silent Hill 2
