Silent Hill 2 REMAKE is coming... but WHY?

I like to treat F as if it was its own game. Funny enough, since they do have a manga writer on the team....this writer did that "When they cry" manga....I think this game was completely different. Like how 4 was meant to be a new IP, but Konami retrofitted it to be a Silent Hill game. The point of remaking art now...is to troll us. Personally. Come on. It's Blooper. They suck. New game > remaking amazing games that never needed a remake and ironically still hold up. Also SH2 (2001) feels like a extremely personal and high budget game. At least with new games, we can do whatever we want with them. Like Shattered Memories. That one blows. Slitterhead looks dope. It does.

While it ranges because every game is made differently, let me throw my two cents in. Silent Hill is a extremely personal project created by the outcasts of employees working at Konami in the early 1990s and middle 1990s. These outcasts worked on games like Earthbound. Basically every game that flopped, these guys were given the b-team games. Silent Hill was born out of blessing, limitations, art, pure Japanese awesomeness, horror, logic and other cool things. Turning the ps1's weakness into strengths. Even the visuals are amazing and hold up. Sato, the animator of 1 and 2, did a lot of work on 1 by himself. It was only when he confronted Konami did he not only get credited, but got help and more budget. A lot of people praise Ito, which is fine, he's a good artist too...but Sato made it work. Among other awesome and talented members of the Team Silent people. So Silent Hill released in 1999 and continues to be epic. At least in my opinion. From outcasts to Legends. Blooper is like a six grader that steals your homework and passes it off as his own. Sorry, I adore Silent Hill. I'm fine with new games! I just think they're remaking two to spite us all.

Actually, you look at Blooper's past, you seriously realize how much they hacked their way into popularity. They were ripping off games way before ripping off P.T.

@@SOLIDSNAKE. Then it would make no difference, if they got the original Silent Hill team back together, since their magic waning off after SH4. Like you just said lightning in a bottle.

Yeah, I mean I'll definitely play it out of curiosity if nothing else. But I'm certainly open to having a great time with it if it turns out great 🙂

The problem is it is not accessible easily. That was fixed with RE4.

A port of the original silent hill 2 would be an infinitely easier and more respectful way to solve that problem for SH2. Like how RE4 has been available on literally everything since it released.

Well said. One of the hardest to please fan base in gaming. I say just these niche pricks continue whining in their echo chmabers.

Bet you they will sanitize the hell out of it! I already don't like it the voice acting sucks period! Sorry but the creepiness came from the on purpose weird dialouge DAMN FOOLS!

@@SOLIDSNAKE. Guy Chi and all of the cast from the original did an amazing job.

@@SOLIDSNAKE. Played and finished the original SH2 four times recently, and I don't see what's so great about the voice acting. It's no different from any game of that era. Great story though. So voice acting in remake won't be any different.

You're not wrong. I just don't see why a game has to be new to be playable. I play Atari and NES games that came out way before I was born and I'm fine with them 🤷‍♂️ but different strokes for different folks I guess!

@@Johnnygrafx I'm definitely buying and it will help his company so maybe he will bring in the other members with some new talent too so it will be team silent and some new ones even the guy doing F I still wonder if that is set in the town or a new concept.

Nah it's not. Still plays great. Like I said in the video, emulation does a great job with it on modest PCs and of course PS2s still work fine.

Being a reboot doesn't mean it's not a remake. These aren't exclusive terms. It's being re-made, thus, it is a remake. It also is a long-dormant franchise, so it is also totally valid to call it a reboot. But that doesn't mean it isn't a remake as well.

@@Johnnygrafx I’m clarifying the terms. Konami explicitly states in text during Transmission that it is being rebooted.

The idea that no one was asking for a remake seems dishonest. We asked for new games which is what we’re getting. Silent Hill 2 remake is a new game.

I hear Observer is really gone one for them.

@@Mikeyzom well if they were going to treat shattered memories as the first remake, they should have attached shattered memories to this title too. Or do what RE did and port an HD remaster of Shattered Memories to modern systems to refresh peoples memories of it.

Yup my thoughts exactly. It feels like they're doing the bare minimum with bringing OG devs back just so they can say they did. BUT I'm totally open to having a great time with it. I'm pullin for em.

@@Johnnygrafx Also Sato's work is amazing. He's actually the main reason (at least personally) that Silent Hill started strong with great art design. He also has a BA in oil painting.

Seriously those custom facial animations were something else! People are missing the point! REMAKE THE MONA LISA THEN! THE STARRY NIGHT! REMAKE BREAKING BAD! I REMAKE SCHINDLER'S LIST! you see? There's no point in remaking art!
