Combat more reminds me of The Last of Us more than anything else.

I kind of like the off looking animations, it reminds me of Twin Peaks. Glad the environments look so good, too. Blooper Team did a good job with it in Observer imo, I was worried about combat and I agree Bawk, I think it's fine. I would say there actually is a Silent Hill game with good combat - Homecoming has nice feeling combat but it also creates a problem where you can now run through the entire game with the axe and never be worried about anything killing you, it takes away from the experience imo

For an indie development team who has never worked on something like this, it looks pretty good. I don't think it will live up to the original, but I hope it's at least an enjoyable experience.

The only system element I'm finding a little off aside from the (hopefully)compression taking effect of the video is the lighting.....to me its way bright and very off putting. the slight fog with the 50+meter in circumference minimum view doesn't seem very isolating

I imagine the FPS will be much better at release. It was sort of giving me a headache watching it but I can tell the game is gorgeous otherwise. Love the atmosphere.

The atmosphere just doesn't feel like silent hill, it doesn't give me the nostalgia of playing the original as kid which is what I'm looking for in a remake.

i enjoyed it im definitely pre ordering, my only "concerns" are the weapon sounds still feel like im shooting spitballs out of a paper straw, and angela looks uncanny, i also wonder why they are actively choosing to not show eddie

Gameplay seems fine, but the cutscenes I have very mixed feelings on. It's definitely a different vibe from the original, but sometimes it seems to come together and I start to get into it, but then something totally breaks that mood. A good example is the cutscene with Laura in the hospital at around the 12 minute mark. It starts really good, the performances are solid and the models actually look good, and the facial details are really nice. Especially at 12:41 with the mouth detail on James, that comes across as very human and does a lot to pull me in. Then right afterwards Laura tells him about the letter from Mary... and he doesn't seem to care at all??? He seems so disinterested, whereas in the original he was EXTREMELY interested in seeing it, because why wouldn't he?? Then Laura points at the door all slow and dramatic and there's an ominous thud sound effect and it's all so corny to me. I feel like the whole game is gonna be like this, a back and forth where I can get into it for a little while, then something breaks it, rinse and repeat.

My fear is that if they're trying to make things so cinematic and realistic, it's going to be three hours, tops. I pray that's not the case. 🙏 Also, James looks like David Duchovny 😅

I wasn't considering getting Silent Hill 2 until watching this. Yeah the frame rate stinks but honestly still looks pretty good and hopefully that gets fixed. My biggest issue is not having a PS5 and I doubt my laptop could run it. The combat does look janky but I like how intense it looks at the moment. The only complaint is that James is too pretty. I want my below average James!

Until i watched the *gameplay trailer* that Silent Hill Official just put out, and now i'm fairly optimistic that the game will be good. I urge everyone to watch the gameplay trailer, it's *MUCH BETTER* than the horrible mess that is the State Of Play's cinematic trailer

It looks, questionable The environment looks very nice but everything else looks kinda crusty. Bloober apparently stated that everything shown was a mix of different builds so final product might look better? I don't hate it, I hope it comes out well enough. But Jesus Christ, I hope they change Angela's face before release. Get rid of the fat cheeks/neck, the man jaw, and huge eyebrows.

The voice acting from James, Maria and Laura is better than I thought it would be. From what we've seen of Angela, I don't like her at all. Her appearance and the voice acting, It reminds me of Ascension somewhat. Gameplay seems not awful but the sound effects of the guns are bad. I have very mixed feelings of everything we've seen so far. I won't be getting it because I don't want to buy a ps5 but I'm excited to watch your playthrough.

It’s so inconsistent. Sometimes it looks great other times it looks like it’s from 2 generations ago. I won’t be getting it, maybe sometime down the line but I’m not excited for it. I’m more looking forward to Return to Silent Hill tbh. Even if Maria’s wig is really bad lol.

I don't get why people complain about the combat. Hell, from the beginning with even Silent Hill 1 you spent most of your time running from enemies, not fighting them unless you have to, especially on harder difficulties. Nobody is going to say the original Silent Hill games were about combat at all. As for Angela, I think she's fine. She's just different and everyone's all upset about her drastic face changes. I could say the same about Laura, she looks 12 and 30 at the same time. But, it's different. Can't really expect a 1:1 remake. If that were the case, everyone would be complaining about the tank controls among other things. Y'all don't remember how jank the animations in Silent Hill 2 were? Every Silent Hill game has had janky animations. You guys want Red Dead Redemption 2 levels of animation but I'd rather not wait a business day just to pick an item up.

Honestly, yes it look indie. But I think that’s to its benefit. Some of the best games/movies are all indie. I hear a lot of discourse over Angela. I feel in the dark she looks great, but in daylight she does look a little low res. I’m not even going to touch on the misogynistic INCEL, criticisms I see about her. Because it’s frankly gross. I bet they will tweet her just a bit. But overall I’m very impressed! Combat looks better and still a little jank ( which I think is great, I want some jank ) but I don’t think it’s too the point that takes away from the gameplay at all. Hit Detected, a DEI consultancy firm apparently helped turn Angela into a dude, the nurse enemies masculine shaped, and James from a blonde Caucasian to East Asian. This game looks janky too. Why did Konami let Bloober remake this, people just want the original 1:1 with improved textures and lighting (and maybe more responsive melee combat) Watch SH2 original shoot up in value. Grab it while you can people!

Seeing the "Jumpscare" from the lying figure....ugh. Sorry, I'm not biting. I love the first four, but this series has been a mess ever since. The ONLY jumpscare that occured back in the first game was the Cafe scene. I want to have the things that unnerve, not startle. The darkness and fog from the original, while a limitation of the hardware initially, added the fear of the unknown. The static, the sounds, that's all you need.

Honestly if it’s 60 frames per second at launch, it really doesn’t look too bad to me, it looks like a game I can enjoy, not everything has to be word for word and scene for scene I can always go back and play the original for that experience

So, recently Hellblade II released and people did'nt learned that graphics isnt everything to a game. Kids nowadays do like things you just sit and watch it, the gameplay is not even important, you just press W and watch the scripts make everything. I realy hate Kojima and all that bullshit game industry forces us to "play", RE7, RE8, TLOU, Hellblade, it's like 1 hour gameplay, 5 hours movies, holding W and sleeping at the chair watching the events hapning. So, people overestimate graphics, can't just play and have fun, It's funny because not everyone can play games at 4K 180Hz so they wont like any game, because they are playing FHD 60hz, by the logical they are not playing the best game, so its a bullshit. Aftermath, SH franchise never had the best combat mechanics, the focus was never this, the games are focused on the drama, the ambientation, the horror, the expectation of something wrong gonna happen. By understanding this we can have so much fun playing SH II remake. I know Konami is a fuckin stupid company that screw every possoble game it owns, but I will give it a second chance and buy this game because I'm really excited about the SH II remake and I did like the trailer, cant wait to play it

angela looking like she was ripped from the hd collection into garry's mod then back into unreal. also this is showing a direct interaction between Mary and Laura which im 99% sure never happened in the original game. I always thought that Mary, (born from a wish) was just something created by James. She is never seen or directly interacts with any character. She's literally infront of Laura here shouting at her infront of James. IDK but I cringed hard at this. I dont think im buying Bloobers cool aid

Silent Hill 2: Remake wants to be the Resident Evil 4 Remake so bad it hurts. All the way down to trying to make the main character's "cool" jacket into a big deal.

The fighting feels a bit lackluster. The melee system almost looks like Callisto protocol. I hope this isnt the case. Plus it looks like james beating them while their down is weak as hell. No impact at all. Put some smoke and power behind the guns as well. They sound so subtle
