My mother passed away 4 days ago after battling cancer for 5 years. She was on Stage 4 since December last year. "Every day is an anesthetic" We give her pain meds because the cancer treatment doesn't work anymore. But in her last days, the pain meds stopped working. This music video is timely. Wasn’t really a fan of them till I heard Trilogy, but after checking out the rest of their discography they’ve become one of my favorites, this is an incredible song, truly wonderful songwriting.

These two songs (Trilogy) have been so personal to me. I have been suffering from major Anxiety disorder and Derealization where I feel like I'm losing my mind and not myself. It causes major panic attacks, fight or flight urges and feeling like your losing your grip on reality. Im still working on getting better and everyday feels like a battle. Thank you Silent Planet and Garrett for sharing this. Much love to any one suffering from mental health issues you are not alone! ❤

I still can't get over the masterpieces that are Trilogy and Panopticon, and you guys just *drop this bombshell* on us?! Goodness!

Phenomenal drumming, top notch music video, its visuals and such, Garrett is on point with his harsh screams and again, interesting lyrical content, the song structure is nice and not something predictable. But the singing is not that good to me. So many annoying filters and effects, and the overall mixing is still not interesting to my ears. I always had problem with SP that they sounded plastic to me. For better understanding - this band is great, they are making interesting, creative, emotional music with unique lyrical content, but with the mixing, i will always have problems.

Now I see how Trilogy was born. It's a direct prequel to it, and the song itself sounds magnificent. Really hope they will complete a trilogy (sorry for tautology, haha) and release another song to conclude the story

I think I understand the meaning of the video. The man was a lost soul wandering to find contentment and something that could fill the void in his soul. He thought he found it in the girl that he held close, but she was just like a medication to treat a sickness inside of him (a "cancer in his soul"), like a temporary relief to a permanent pain/scar. She was that pick me up to make himself feel better about himself, a self-medicated cure to an untreatable illness, but he was just tying himself up in bondage and leaving the wound to fester and the void remained. She was like a drug, something that brought temporary relief but left him in a worse state than the start. She wasn't what he really needed to fill the void and so the void remained and consequently the sickness inside of him only worsened and he became an emotional wreck, worse off than he was from the start. Deep. Portrays the lives of a lot of lost souls of today who try to find contentment in relationships and their worth in the approval of others. People who look for love in all the wrong places but can never find it because they left it behind.

I've listened to a lot of deeply emotional songs over the years but this has got to be by far one of the most soul crushingly emotional tracks I've heard in a very very long time. Those lyrics are both haunting beautiful and brutally honest. One of the best songs I've ever heard.

First time hearing this and just read the lyrics. This song came out the day my father in law died from Covid :(. He was a pastor for 30 years and retired Air Force, the greatest man I've ever met. Humble and bold at the same time, died in disgrace uncovered, lying in the hospital sedated did he know he was moments away from meeting the Father? Taken too young, remembered every day.

I must say, this song is more than music, its a emotional journey through pain, sadness and growth. Everyone has this stigma on mental health like its a problem that we sweep under the rug. Society doesn't understand how lonely mental health can be for friends, family and or yourself. The meaning of this song is so powerful and moving we will truly never understand the struggle that Garrett must have gone through the past few years. To be able to express this in a song is second to none and gives hope to the millions of people out there that are struggle every moment and every day with the pain of this world. Please continue to put songs out like this, you are doing more for people than you will ever probably understand. May God bless you each and every day gents, thank you!

Mitchell channeling is inner Chino Moreno. Love it. Million times better than Panopticon and Trilogy. This was the Silent Planet sound i expected to heard and that made me fall in love 7 years ago. I'm glad they're still true to that.

Great song! SP is one of those heavy bands that I love their softer songs just as much as the heavy ones, because being heavy isn't their only asset. The lyrics, the atmosphere, the melodies, the production (recently). They nail it every time!
