Thank you so much! I was getting pretty frustrated. Last week I had two days of everything working perfectly. I was ecstatic! Suddenly (with different paper, I admit), it was tearing the paper and not cutting through at places. New paper today, same problem. Your work-around WORKED!!! All those who conmented know how happy and relieved I am! You're a genius!

So while watching your video I looked at my blade and it was sitting in correct but I took it out and there was vinyl stuck on the blade. Removed it and problem solved. Thank you!

Thank you!! Oh my goodness. The blade that came with with my cameo 4 is faulty. And will only adjust manually. And because it taps in auto mode, the blade goes back to zero and doesn't cut. Store's in Australia are out of stock of autoblades. So I was freaking out a wee bit 🤣

only had my machine just over a month but didn't have any problems until my auto blade stopped cutting - I took it out and had a good look and the screw-in cover over the blade itself was so loose it was nearly falling off - therefore reducing the depth capacity to almost nothing - tightened it up - reset the blade and all is good. by the way Craft-on-line in Australia has the tool adapter kit atm - mine arrived today.

Thanks. Mine went from tearing out my material to not cutting at all. I realized that when it wasn’t cutting it was because it was on stock on NUMBER ZERO! Cameo should fix this issue is call the Auto blade for a reason! Not manual. Im afraid I’ll cut my self adjusting this 💩.

waaw it worked had to do some minor tweaks with the depth and force and it worked. it wasn't cutting any at all. was just getting an impression .And it now cuts , thanks for this work around, hope it holds up until l i get my new blades. (cameo 4)

Melissa my problem is the red line never moves? What you are explaining I understand but than what is the point of the auto blade if you have to take the blade out and manually set it? I ended up using the ratchet blade with the adapter and it works perfect but to me why even have this big claim to fame auto blade if it doesn’t work? And what if my adapter breaks ? Thank you for all your help everything you post is so helpful

Hi there, I have a newish Cameo 4, that I have not been able to use because it won’t cut. I thought I must be missing something and that it was user error. But after watching a ton of videos, I now understand how it is SUPPOSED to work. My problem is it never moves off the 0. Whether I try to use the auto function, or try to click it manually, the blade doesn’t change. Am I missing something? Is there something else I should be doing to get that blade to drop down?

I tried this and it worked. Couldn’t get the auto blade to cut deep enough. So on vinyl I just preset it to 2 and input the ratchet blade and cut…. It finally cut deep enough to get it right.i was getting so frustrated with it and about gave up. Thank you

I go through the steps you suggested and I have my blade locked the way it should be. It does the test cut perfectly,even if I adjust the cut settings. I’m a complete newbie but trying to get familiar with my machine etc. I have the Silhouette Cameo 3 btw. Although it cuts the test cut perfectly, it will not cut out the image I’m trying to do but goes through the motion. What am I doing wrong here? Help!

Thank you so much for the info, it is a great help after I wasted about 3 feet of vinyl having my auto blade not tap over to a 3 and cut on a depth of 1 instead. Why does this machine (Cameo 4) even have this fault, is it a program fault, will it be fixed with a program update? I mean, I paid quite a bit for this, and am now second guessing myself on the purchase.

Hi. This was very helpful thank you. I actually bought the Premium blade, heard it's 3 times more long lasting. What settings should I use for the premium blade for cameo 3? The blade option isn't there on Silhouette studio. There is only Autoblade, Ratchet blade and Deep cut blade

Quick Question. Does your machine have a loud noise coming from your auto blade when you turned it on? Cause mine sounds so noisy and it's not even cutting anything.

These are definitely not quiet machines. Make sure your rollers and carriage are free of debris too.

The grip on the machine doesn't grip the blade properly when it's locked and the blade slowly wiggles up due to the vibrations that the machine is making when it's in the process of cutting. How do i solve this problem?

This is my problem as well, the holder simply raises itself up as its setting the blade depth. I pause the machine and push it back down but as soon as it starts cutting the blade holder just rises up again. It fully locked in but it does not hold it there

Can you not just change to a depth of 2 in the software?

Yes, that is how you normally do it. The issue is sometimes the autoblade doesn't adjust to the correct depth when using the software. This way you "manually" set your depth that you know works and the software won't tell it to change.

Likely the blade is not adjusting correctly due to ither not being in the carriage correctly, needing to be cleaned out or being defective.

HELP! My Cameo 4 carriage is stuck in the center and will not return to the far left. Even if I do the times 3 slid it tip, it will just go flying over to the center and start cutting from there which in turn makes it cut right off the mat at the other end. Is there a way to factory reset the whole machine, and if so, how? Is there a way to clear out it's memory of past cutting projects that may be the reason since I have cut in the center before, but it always started far left, the blade would tap itself and then it would go to the center and cut the small piece, then return to the far left again. The machine is less than a year old, it was a gift. People want to see me make things but I can't and have only had two successful cuts with it before this nonsense started. I contacted Silhouette but they have not replied. I don't know what else to do as I have followed every video out there and nothing has worked.

Hey there! I'd turn the machine off and unplug it for 5-10 minutes and then power on and re-calibrate (the 3 times slide). You could also try making sure the firmware is up to date.

I am about to toss this machine outside! Half the time it goes ok but most of the time when I have an important project to do It does not want to cut properly even if I manually set the depth and force. I also do not have an option for a ratchet cut. I am sick of being frustrated. I emailed silhouette but have not heard a word back.

@Silhouetteschool Help.... this is good info but not matching my situation. I was gifted a Portrait 2 in March. Orginal owner never even unboxed it. Registered machine, bought designs on Design Studio, etc. Went to cut a simple pattern April 25th and the machine goes through all the motions; and not a cut. Test cut zippo - no cut. Did the Silhouette trouble shoot steps; *Blade in wrong; fixed *moved Matt over to first short line on left *turned off registration marks *cut lines/ software set to cut I can't get the blade tool to work at all, can't figure out how to open the blade or adjust cut depth at all. I did manage to turn something manually and now I think I broke the blade!!! Ugh!!!! Seriously frustrated. My Scan n Cut was usable right out of the box, zero issues. This machine should be just as easy watching all the pros on RU-vid!

Wow, have been struggling with this machine for 14 mths now, so disappointed!!! Machine will not register ratchet blade on settings & after manually setting blade it will then add blade setting to what I have manually set blade to, starting to feel like this is a lemon & I have wasted $400 on machine plus all the materials I have wasted trying to cut on!

Do you have good lighting on your Silhouette? I discovered that when my Silhouette couldn't "see" the registration marks, it was cutting incorrectly or giving me the "registration failed" message. I put a light directly on the Silhouette and it works every time now.
