I've always viewed Farage as grifter, so was not surprised to hear him spouting Russian talking points like a Kremlin fanboy. Hopefully this will alienate a section of his supporters, those that are on board with Farage's nationalist agenda, yet do not support Russia - this will be a real turn off for said group.
Here in America, observing some people I considered not dumb, have been zombified by pro-Putin MAGA propaganda to such extent it is sad and surreal. One can only hope the Brits on the Right were more rational and not as poisoned by Russian propaganda.
It is alienating. The split in the nationalist comunities in Europe and the former settled colonies over the ru aggression against Ukraine in 2014 was bad, and was even worse over the one in 2022. I have nationalist acquaintances that fought on both sides. In general, those that believe in nationalism for all support the attacked and those that are 'nationalists' because they hate the left, are failing in life, hate their own societies or are simply imperialist revanshists are listening to shalow ruZ drivel delivered from shills, and work for the benefit of the ruZ. In general, the "nationalism for all" believers are more successful and are the old European ethnonationalists. The failed, the dim, the emotional and the more americanised are mostly pro-ru. The leaders, on the other hand, are a different matter. The ethnonationalists are largely suppressed everywhere as they are actively suppressed by the left establishment and the ru paid shills, thus the 'nationalist leaders' that are left are most mostly shills whose survival, and prosperity is heavily subsidised by the ru.
thank you so much for keeping these things clear. Truth is the first casualty of war. I feel so sorry for the brave Ukrainians. It adds insult to injury to hear these people lie about the reasons behind blind, murderous aggression. Ethnic cleansing. So sad.
Here in the US we have many aligned with Putin. Far too many. Makes me want to summon the ghost of senator McCarthy and resurrect the House Un-American Activities Committee.
@@allo-otherdesperate times call for desperate measures. Remember : dont ask how someone else got to where we are, but what did you do to get here ?, - we are all part of this problem ! Provocation ? If you tell a thief you are going to start locking your car next week, and he steals it the next day, did you provoke him ?
@@surelyyoujokemeinfailure7531But, Joe McCarthy like MAGA today, was just using a boogeyman as a political tool rather than genuine concern for national security. But I get what you mean.
Fantastic! Thank you for all you do to delve behind headlines to expose russian narratives-and the facts of events! Very grateful for the hard work you put into each Silicon Bites episode, even the wonderful illustrations, some of which depict sad scenes but are useful and very well done!
Nicely said. I often have this impression that most people I know act like LLMs (e.g., like ChatGPT) -- they learn popular juxtapositions of words and narratives, so if someone says "Russia was surrounded by NATO," says it a second or third time, they learn to repeat it and don't even try to verify it for what it is.
Very well said. Poor western journalism as well as grifters and people that genuinely believe that some people are greater than others through the concept of spheres of influence are Russia's greatest allies, likely being just as important to the Kremlin as its nuclear arsenal - they both play a significant role in deterring timely aid. And while I don't expect right-wingers, especially older ones to be against the idea of spheres of influence, the sheer hypocrisy from so-called "leftists" on this topic has been sickening.
GBNews has become a receptacle, carrier and spreader of Russian talking points - it almost acts like a subsidiary of RT with Farage having a regular slot.
I really enjoyed your poised take on this very difficult topic which angers me beyond imagination. It's very soothing for me. I watch very often Gerdes's videos for the same reasons.
@26.02 - There is further context to this story. It seems that the Ukrainian missile was not intercepted, a missile from a TOR M2 system was fired to intercept a Ukrainian missile and missed and then self-destructed showering shrapnel all over the beach. So it seems like russian air defence were to blame.
Can you cite your source. I have watched videos and have some doubt that it is shrapnel. There is smoke clouds seen at impact points which would not be expected with shrapnel. Look at the impact near lifeguard tower and you see black smoke.
Your points are a good reason why people need to present their positions as clearly as possible . A people’s existence is at stake . A bit of lead poisoning here and there ought to be expected .
Wow 50 great episodes that's great. I do wish I was watching you for other information though. I'll be happy to see the need for your channel to go away, nothing personal. Congratulations
As well as pulling equipment from Finland, putler is also NOT providing air defence for oil producers. He actually told them get their own defense. But there is none available in russia that is not military, which they can't get. Some of them resorted to creating "cope nets" around facilities and resorting to KGB priests for blessings (great picture). rus getting NKorean "helpers" is good for Ukraine in some ways. It opened the door for the US allowing US contractors to work in Ukraine. The US will probably extend it's permission to fire into russia. Yes, "bad case" it will have to deal with "fresh meat" attacks. Worse case is that Kim actually sends well trained and equiped troops. (How likely? I don't know.) People don't understand the concept that russia wants to, and is able to make countries "disappear" from the map. Russians invaded Poland and made it disappear twice in it's 1000 year history. So, it happening to Ukraine is entirely within the realm of possibility if Europe and US don't keep on objecting! Not having large concentrations of troops will not stop putler from using a tactical nuke. At that point he will not be logical, or tactical. He will be losing and vengeful. If he is pushed to using one HE WILL USE IT ON a CIVILIAN POPULATION. Kyiv or one of the other largest cities. Maybe Lviv on the very west end of Ukraine, so the fallout would hit Europe/Poland. Ukraine hitting SU-57's on the ground proves nothing about the capability, or vulnerability of the aircraft. They got luck
People are misreading Trump. Personal appeal is a classic American business negotiating tactic that Trump has been practicing most of his life. It doesn't necessarily always translate well to diplomatic geopolitics and can result in ridiculous hilarity like the, "Kim Jong-Un and I fell in love with each other" episode. You can't take it at face value. It's part of a negotiating tactic.
Thank you Jonathan🫡, I appreciate your calm, methodically, and evidence based approach when you approach certain news & their authors, & how the only reasonable position anyone could have is to support Ukraine! 🇺🇦 Respectfully, Grace🩰 #СлаваУкраїні #ГероямСлава 🇺🇦🫡🇺🇦
As usual, top quality, both in content and visually. But when are you going to acknowledge your pixel artists ? I particularly loved the introduction of pointillism amongst the images.
Good update, one point: Comparing Ukraine and Israel puts Ukraine in a bad light and is not fair. In modern times (I.e. after WW2), Ukraine never annexed neighbours territory, they never illegally settled on land they didn't own, they didn't restrict the development of some of their neighbours and the list goes on. So please do not compare what is a "black and white" conflict with one which is very complex.
Before the war in Ukraine I would say NATO was no danger to Russia, due to the war and the new members to NATO(I assume Ukraine will also join when they win) they will have unsolved issues with at least 2 members(a bit unsure about a few if they have come to terms with the past or still see it as an issue). Georgia will probably follow into NATO and maybe Moldova so there will be many countries with issues or unsolved ones. My point is that if the Kremlin never wanted to make NATO into an hostile alliance they should have stopped poking their neighbors because soon there will be a voice that won't be so Muscovia friendly and who knows, maybe the new goal really becomes to tear down the Kremlin from within for it never to rise again. Its like USA that feared the influence of Soviet "communism"(wouldn't call it communism, their system reminds me more of a parasite or a leech) for so long that now they have a president candidate parroting the leader of the thing they feared that would spread to them. Same with the Kremlin, they have been shouting about NATO so much so that they scared everyone into NATO feeling nothing but negative things about them...
Thanks for the great content! The powercuts here make it hard to keep up with it :) I can't believe that the clown is not blamed for brexit and running away..Or is that now considered a success in the UK? 🇺🇦❤️🇺🇦
If EU and NATO expansion eastward makes Russia vulnerable, then why does Farage not urge Britain to reconquer Ireland for its continued membership of the EU while we are out of it?
European countries need a counter policy in advance of a possible withdrawal of US support in November. 0ne measure could be to donate a percentage of their defence budgets directly to Ukraine. For example, in the case of UK billions disappear into joint military projects with the US for no discernable benefit. I'm sure Ukraine could develope a more reliable delivery system for our nuclear deterrent. This reallocation of funds might encourage the US to continue its support Ukraine.
Very bad performance in real politique standrd people... very bad. Ukraine sympathisers, supporters and lovers all seem to be possesd by the notion that for each major Ukraine supporting nation there could be only one side of the political spectrum as a valid choice. I do not know in which practical school of thought you read this... but its an exteremly unhelpful approach. Neither Farage (whom is by no way seen as having a chance of becoming the PM... at best he defeats the Tories...) not Trump and candidates in an election in Ukraine. They run in their own countries, reperesenting agenda issues related mostly to their own societies. If support for Ukraine is an issues which also benefits those respective countries (which it is to my opinion) then any head of state elected there would certainly consider keeping it or even expanding it. You make it sound as if support for Ukraine is an issue at the same level of importance as some regional highway development project. Making a rigid connection between Ukraine support and one "legitimate" political side would just harm Ukraine. Eventually you will get in some countries governments some of you PERSONALLY do not like. Not the end of the world. Might even be a new start for Ukraine.
Man, this is probably your worst episode ever. Basically just you listing every person who disagrees with you and saying they're all working for Putin. It's some McCarthy Era shit, makes you sound inherently untrustworthy. I'm an overt supporter of Ukrainian independence, and I do agree with you that there's not much grey area in this war, but to not allow for any form of alternate perspective indicates you're slipping into Putin territory yourself. This is why I don't listen to Jake Broe -- he isn't capable of nuance either. Don't fall into that brainwashed military zombie category.
This is actually something all Russian people should be informed about! It would expose the constant lying and fearmongering about NATO. Also it would tell Russian's that they sure aren't invincible, when it takes EVERYTHING Russia has - to FAIL in Ukraine!
Trump & Farage have had their day .... IMO , Elections in July & November will decide and I have (postal) voted already to the party with the best track record SUPPORTING UKRAINE
I actually think Tucker’s interview unintentionally helped support the argument that Putin would have invaded Ukraine regardless of any actions of NATO or the EU, as it confirmed that Putin never believed that Ukraine was a sovereign state in the first place.
That wasn't the first time we heard that, though. We've heard it from him for decade and a half. We've even heard Trump parrot the same line when he was in office. For me, the highlight of that interview was Putin defending Hitler's invasion of Poland. Not Stalin's. Hitler's.
@@surelyyoujokemeinfailure7531 Putin should be arrested in Russia for this, as it is formally forbidden to justify Nazism there :D Well, not the only thing he should go behind bars for under Russian law.
I wouldn't feel like a "Putin helper," but for a long time I cooled down critics that they were exaggerating. It was the meetings with Putin supporters that changed me -- I verified what they were saying, and time and again it came out that they were repeating Russian propaganda, and that this propaganda consisted of nothing but brazen lies. I will agree that this may be the case, but I'm afraid it doesn't work that way on most.
@@SiliconCurtainAn obviously defamatory lie by you, Jon. Why isn't sticking to plain truth good enough for you? Or present verifiable supporting evidence against Galloway. (Just as I _demand_ evidence from Galloway when he says that the Russian atrocities in Bucha were all committed by Ukrainian fascists.) We need to protect Ukraine🇺🇦, not lie in order to hate Russia more. It's Ukrainians who suffer. Their lives and families matter, you know.
I am from the US, but I did just unsubbed both Guardian channels I used to watch. If enough of us do this: voting with our euros or dollars, that will send its' own message.
The Guardian has some great journalists- like Luke Harding. But it also nurtures some absolutely misguided people like Mark Dejevsky and Simon Jenkins. I’m subscribed, but pick very carefully what I choose to read, and what to ignore.
Thanks,Jonathan, for this illuminating yet depressing coverage of self serving liars whose deception has cost so many Ukranian lives. Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Farage got his start in politics with a loan from a Rusia backed banker. There areany of these in France, Germany and of course London. I always wonder why you hear about these things but no one seems to care. Brexit has kicked Britain to it's knees and Farage says he would have done it better. Indeed he would have: Britain would be on it's back
Thank you Jonathan! Always delighted (and terrified) by listening to your channel, indeed. I like your bites just as much as all the brilliant interviews! Looks like the number of useful idiots are increasing as well as their exposure within the information space. Some don't even know they belong to the category. And that makes them an even greater threat. Have to say I really liked your "around the table" with Jake, Vlad and Anna! Great stuff!
Only a politician who's a fool wouldn't be able to read the room so Farage throwing shade to Putin means he's either a fool or he's indebted. I don't think he's a fool.
If we were such a threat to Russia, why did we save so much on military spending the last decades? Why did we get ourselves so dependent on Russian gas in Europe? Why is it so difficult to get enough ammunition together to help Ukraine? If we were planning to attack Russia, why were we so poorly prepared for a war? If any politician these days want media attention all they have to do is show sympathy for Putin and understanding for Russia's point of view. How to get yourself in the headlines in one easy lesson.
It’s disgusting reputable publications give David Sachs a platform. What is The Economist’s excuse for giving this transparently disingenuous agent a microphone?
You apparently didn´t realize that the average attention-span for adults listening to monologues is limited at about 20 minutes under favorable conditions: Meaning for example 'sufficient variation in tone and rhythm' of the spreakers voice! For me, that is where you have failed this time.
