I bought four of these SSDs by Silicon Power. Two were 2TB, one was 1TB, and one was 500GB. ALL FOUR of them worked fine at first, but within about 3 months of use, they all experienced a drastic slowdown in write speed from around 400 MB/s when new to under 100 MB/s later on. I tried deleting the partition of each drive and reformatting, in hopes of fixing this problem, but it did not make a difference. I also checked the firmware. I recommend you avoid this model.

@@Jay_kaying I replaced my Silicon Power SSDs with Team Group and haven't had any problem with that brand. I'd recommend staying away from brands you've never heard of before. The name brands like Crucial are pretty cheap these days and very reliable.

Depends on how much you want to spend on an SSD, there are plenty of brands out there. Micron, Samsung, Kioxia, GoodRAM.

were any of them not DRAMless? I've been getting really good performance out of this drive and haven't noticed much of a difference compared to the 1TB 860 Evo im also running.

I bought 2 months ago a 2tb A55 and from one week its to slow. Read and write speeds at 15. Yes 15...I cant save any socument wthout waitting 10 minutes. Does someone know whats wrong? I tried to download firmware from the website but it says that the firmware is updated. I dont understand. Maybe its dying?

I wonder how this compares to both the ADATA SU800 and SU760 which were the other two Samsung alternatives I almost went for instead of the Silicon Power A55. Back then I just wanted to save a buck but mostly see how these cheaper alternatives stacked up to the Samsung as game storage drives. I use a 970 EVO Plus as my boot drive.

I wish I could have tested those SSDs to give you a better answer, but I couldn't say. You can look at the MX500 from Crucial or anything from Kioxia.

Up to these days, you can't only look at capacity an type of cells. The most important thing on SSD reliability, when the cell shave similar or close qualities, is the firmware controller. I have still not seen better SSD than Crucial and Samsung overall and performance/price ratio. At third place, I'd add WD. Intel is still in his own world and the other brands are either not worth the money or of poorer qualities and reliability.

i bought this SSD on M.2 formfactor last year and the controller was Realtek RTS5735. not sure if it's any better or worse than the SMI SM2258XT/2259XT but i can tell you the Realtek ones ran quite hot. NAND still Intel (i think, based on the markings)

Poor drive for ps5. It hits a wall once the slc cache is saturated and then is stuck. It becomes slower than a normal hdd.

I don't think it was ever advertised for PS5 usage; in that case you need an M.2 drive.

I got the 250gb for my PS3 Super Slim. The base 12gb flash memory is slow and garbage and its also not enough for even 3 games so I hope this SSD really helps my system.

Got also an 1TB A55. Mine came in plastic shell , controller is Maxio MAS1102B-B1C and flashmemory chip is 29R(orF)08I(orT)2AOCQK1 or 29R08T2AOCQK1/ YT220924 TTGJI. works okey for now... Installed it in a PS4PRO, at installing games seems slower than the Hitachi hdd, now to see in games how it performs

Hearing how the quality isn’t that great, I’m afraid to store anything on it. I initially bought it to use as a second drive for games or maybe to store simple design projects. Instead, could the SP 55 be used solely as a scratch disk for different programs?

@@melaninfuture Of course, it would be perfectly fine as a scratch disk or for game storage. Don’t use it for long term storage of important files, though. Any drive can fail, even expensive ones, so just be sure you always have copies of your important data, in the cloud or on additional HDDs/SSDs.
