I've met people like that in real life and sadly they are overlooked and misunderstood. Weirdness is not always received as well in the real world and people often go by first impressions.
The fact that the "Best of Jared" is the longest one of these videos shows how funny he is everytime he has screentime, Favourite character in the show for sure
Not everyone ends up derranged after a hard life, some people grow up to be thankful for better terms and humble. It's an american myth that trauma is the excuse for everything bad. I know people who went trough hell and war and still function as normal buetiful people. You didn't have war in america lately? You wouldn't know what 4 years in hell occupied city and under grenades mean, and people still act good and normal.
Lmfao! Jared speaking in German is hilarious, as best I can make out he says that he is going to slit everyone's throat and something about NO MOM! I'M NOT GOING INTO THE CAGE!
I always liked reading Zach Woods interpretation of this character, that he deliberately modelled him after the ridiculousness selflessness of moms. Like how some moms will spend hours cooking for their family only to eat over the sink. It's really funny seeing that dialed up to 11 in the body of a human scarecrow.

Lol, Jared and Russ are clearly oracles or clairvoyants of some kind. Russ intuitively knew that Jared fucks and he sized up Erlich so accurately that he immediately chose to shun him. And Jared foretold covid19. These men are not mere mortals.
I mean, he did make a death threat based on very little provocation. He also seems to travel back to past trauma a lot. He does seem like an unsettling guy to be around.
@@jet6477 I like to think they're the same person, Gabe is Jared before he went thru some more shit, also Sabre was a tech company and their job is similar.
"I had a stuffed animal named Winnie- I mean, it wasn't technically an animal. I took a ziploc bag, and I stuffed it with newspaper, and then I drew a smile on it."
"I simply imagine my skeleton is me and my body is my house. And that way I'm always home." "Adversity is a great teacher, just like cigarette burns." Ha, ha, ha! Brilliant! Donald aka. Jared is one the most entertaining characters on the show!
Jared “i once saw him throw a sloth down a flight of stairs after a presentation. He said it was an accident, but he had this look in his eyes” the image of Gavin doing it in my head kills me every time lmao
lol, yeah, probably my favorite line too. Do you picture him slinging it underhand or holding it over his head and getting a running start? Poor sloth.
My favorite Jared moment is when Jared and Richard are on Richard's bed together and Richard is being frustrated and Jared is consciously mimicking everything he's doing and Richard falls back on the bed and Jared does too and hits his head on the bed frame
@@noDice07 lol hyperbole is literally something not meant to be taken literally. The word "literally" exists specifically to communicate that something is *not* hyperbole.
@@TigDegner No hyperbole is rhetoric, it is used to effectively and over-exaggerate speech while not being sincere. Hence why using literally in an insincere manner conveys my point better than using figuratively
@@HoussamNekkaa Too dark for anything, really. The non-verbal responses by other character's reactions to Jared's statements, particularly Gilfoyle, you can see them clocking the seriousness of what Jared's said, with no real way to address it. And that's basically what any story about a person like Jared would be. Definitely not something that would play to comedy.
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. this guy is a masterclass on how to lean into your natural character---like REALLY lean into it hard. It's like he took the character from the office and became his final form in silicon valley...cant wait to see what he does next!!
He didn't, he was just saying what it Pied Piper was like the original story of Pied Piper, a dude that attracted rats with a flute or something like that.
I swear I've had a really good friend like jared lol we would call him a secret gangster because 98% of the time he was a giant awkward dork and 2% gangster 😂😂
I feel like he's so polite and gentle because most of his life was an impossible bucket filled with rock bottoms. So he can literally only look upwards from here.
27:14 Coronavirus Prediction: "We may not be a global epidemic yet, but we've leapt from bat saliva to humans and we've just killed our first few villagers."
I first saw him in The Office and thought he was okay. So when I started watching Silicon Valley I didn't expect much, but he is amazing in this show. Made me laugh so hard
I started watching this show and didn't give Jared much love but as his allegiance grew to Richard so did mine to him. Him and Gilfoyle, two of the most underrated comedic actors.
I had a supervisor who was almost exactly like Jared. When I started watching this show I was wondering why he seemed so familiar and then it hit me. LOL
Haha I’m a bit jealous. Although after years of telling people I wish I had a boss exactly like Michael Scott, I got a Michael Scott but his name was Paul. Called him Michael and got him a “World’s Okayest Boss” sign for his desk. He treasures it. As Michael Scott would 🤣
“I’m going on close to 40 hours without good sleep and the edges of things are starting to get a little… dancey” God if that wasn’t most of my third year of uni
Did a psychometric character test and got him as my top 88% match on both occasions, can confirm that in real life generally people like us are kinda lonely. We enjoy being in others' company but when it comes down to it we're the first to be forgotten to be invited to an event - even if it's not personal. We'll probably be happy to be looped into chipping in for all the office presents but nobody will put in an effort to remember ours or celebrate unless we're the one organising it. We have good intentions and can be fiercely loyal to what/who we think is right but we are so so often misunderstood, and don't have the energy argue with the brick walls around us alot of the time. We can be very creative, but in saying that our ideas aren't always practical, comfortable, or popular even though they would achieve something that is better for almost everyone. Sadly most of the time we fly under the radar, dismissed as the strangely strict weirdos that can't chill and it's only in a sitcom like this that people can take the time to look and listen.
I watched this video about a week ago, as soon as I finished it I started rewatching the show, and now that I’ve finished that I came back to this video, and everything Jared says and do still cracks me up. Easily the best character on the show
I never thought about this until watching these clips, Jared quoted Hitler a lot and he also spoke German in his sleep. Was his Dad a Nazi? Or rather one of his foster families, he didn't meet his actual Dad until one of these last seasons.
Haha.. Could be. He talks about where he thinks the German sleep talking came from, in this interview on the Off Camera channel. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9JHRbL1jmq4.html
At first I thought they were using that scene to establish him as a possible Nazi, but after finishing the series, I think it was more that he has multiple personality disorder. There are so many allusions to it and it is possible that one of his personalities has learned German and the main Jared has no recollection. Something like that is actually possible in real life. I knew a lady who had worked in a mental clinic and her first patient was a lady with 17 personalities. It took 3 years of counseling before they realized that she had multiple personalities. One of the personalities was a bouncer; another had a phD from Rice University. The original alternate personality was a teddy bear. They were able to merge the 17 into 3 before she moved on from the clinic.
Jared likes to help and protect scared, low self esteem, helpless people and Richard was facing all those issues while running a company so he stick to him, later he helps older people.
