That's hilarious how the character actually clever, but appears dumb on the surface because of how straightforward he is. The chemistry with Erich is the best!

I'm really surprised at how good his mandarin is, considering the actor is actually from Hong Kong. Further impressed by the fact that his accent while speaking English is more akin to the accent of a mainland China mandarin-speaker rather than the stereotypical Cantonese accent that is more prevalent in western media.

I love how Erlich pronounces Jian-Yang quite well (better than Richard for instance) but Jian-Yang refuses to call Erlich by his real name.

I just put it together that Jian-Yang was a metaphor for China. First they underestimated him, then he stole their IP's, then in the end, he owned the house, and they were out.

Half of Jian Yang's comedy comes from Erlich's reactions. I love how they slowly build a rivalry throughout the show

He’s one of my favorite characters! His phrases are hilarious and his personality and evolution makes you love him in a very weird way and the actor does a great job even with the little time he has on screen

Erlich is a character that's really really nice. He cusses alot and shouts but still does the right thing and wants to be a success. Admirable

TJ Miller's defining role was in this show. They did just fine killing him off (still very easy to tell they had to derail the show to get rid of him) It's hard not to hold it against him some how. this is the best comedy series of all time IMO.

I can tell a lot of people haven't watched Sillicon Valley. Jin Yang is anything but an Asian stereotype. He is in fact a massive douche who keeps fucking over Elrich. Also, all the nerds on the show look pretty much like him. In fact, the main character is the one who is a massive, awkward dork.

Then we get to the last season, where Jian-Yang is essentially an Asian John McAfee.

I am Asian myself and i honestly don't understand the fuss. Jian-Yang's personality is amazing. He is fearless, not taking Erlich's (or anyone) bullshit, and he has free spirit and does whatever he wants (no matter how crazy or fucked up it is), the difference in cultures, the way he looks, how he speaks English sure are stereotypical but they are just parts of the character (plus they are funny). Where can you find such a badass character, he is perfect for the show!! (kinda like Raj in Big Bang Theory, the accents and all culture stereotypes. Still genius and I like both characters)
