Silk and Steel Strings ‘Shootout’ 

They sound really smooth on a 12-string.

Kottke does it in open G tuned down two whole steps (which makes it in E-flat) when he does it on 12-string. When he does it on 6-string, he is tuned one step down. I’m tuned to G with no down-tuning for this demo. You have an attentive ear. I wondered if anyone would catch that!

@@GWGuitarStudio It was how far you went up the neck for the very high bits,think I normally only get to the 12th…aye,not my first rodeo,like you I learned by ear (pre computers) Interestingly enough,my son of 16 has just started playing,and I’ve given him a nice playing steel strung acoustic (with 10’s on it !)..But he’s has stolen my ‘Jerry Reed’ style Spanish…as he finds it easier to play !…lower string tension,we had to just MAN UP in my day.Cheers from Manchester,England.

@@joelfildes5544I went up to about the 14th fret on that one.That’s about as far as I can get without a cutaway. One of them did go up to the 17th fret, but that was just on the bottom string.

@@GWGuitarStudio you made me re-learn this yesterday,E flat tuning,I remembered most…not played it for years…but it’s amazing how it all came back,so cheers !
