Episode 17: The Silk City at the Edge of Asia For centuries, the process of making silk was one of the greatest secrets of China. How did such a closely guarded secret slip out of China and into the western world?
Thank You so much for this series: I did a Silk Road marathon of Both series over the past four days: Fantastic! and am now sad to be at Episode 17: Will relish the "final" episode tomorrow and probably return to the beginning again. Thankyou. How do these places, peoples and societies look now???? How many of the skills and crafts have "survived " in a Natural way.? Hopefully: Nature does rule al: the sand devours everything again for a while... Good Luck.
Thanks a lot for placing this films! :) I have searched the serial for years, it recalls me a chilhood, when it was emited on Polish Television I was young and a world lookt totally different as today... I must add I am a fan of Kitaro :) Thank You very much!!! Pozdrawiam z Polski!
gosh in all these episodes of silk road series, they have really amazing music that truly matches the colorful environment and ambiance of the background. anyone know this music starting around 47 min mark?
what an amazing series..seeing all those silkworm cocoons was amazing and the way they barter...the wedding was stunning with all the dancing and singing and then taking her with her chattels to her new home..that carpet she wove was simply stunning...
It may not be politically correct but they sure grow a lot of beautiful women in these areas. There are some cute ones in this episode especially. Alas, I am committed but even she pointed out how beautiful some of the women are. I am not sure what it is but there's one lady who is weaving her marriage rug with her mother and she is surprisingly pretty - more so than expected. Of course, she's 30 years older now and probably looks like a prune as they age quickly in that area of the world so there's that.
Alright, so the one that was actually getting married and was garbed in the traditional wedding outfit was not so pretty - even without said garb. But, still, lots of cuties in the flock of women outside and in the area where the men aren't allowed to go.
Galen Gregory says: "but they sure grow a lot of beautiful women in these areas...." == They may look good on surface but their temper is something to be considered. lol
All male Japanese crew of photographers, meeting few women on their journeys, far from home. We are seeing a "selection effect" where they like to take pictures of pretty girls. Not entirely unexpected, and good looking women can be found nearly everywhere in the world :^)
The music is so annoying and the pronunciation of the reporter is so incorrect. We just can;t figure out where he is talking about. How about some texts?
Shuhui Kline says: "The music is so annoying and the pronunciation of the reporter is so incorrect. We just can;t figure out where he is talking about. How about some texts?" == I think it happened at the editing for the English speaking country(Australia). You notice that the music is not endlessly played in the bank ground. They could have chosen the better parts for the narrations where no music is played.
